Our guest speaker will be Bill Toone, founder of Eco-life Conservatory in Carlsbad. Bill's presentation will be on "e Roar of the Monarch." A story of one of nature's most spectacular migrations. e discovery of the overwintering sites of the monarch buttery is probably the greatest natural history discovery of the century. From Fred Urqhardt's childhood fascination with butteries, came a remarkable journey of discovery that spanned decades and the participation of thousands of citizen scientists. 50 years later this amazing biological phenomenon is on the brink of extinction, and we are in a race to save it. We are opening the meeting to members of the buttery club and anyone else who is interested. Members gather in a relaxed setting to socialize, share wine, and enjoy light refreshments. e election process is simple, with the Nominating Committee presenting candidates for the next year. e evening will include a presentation by long time club members and ocial Wine Guru, D. D. Smith, on California wines. Beyond ocial business, it's a chance to reconnect with fellow enthusiasts and strengthen the bonds that make our community special.
