| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2025 | 31 REMINDER: Our November (Thanksgiving) event will be Nov. 1 and will feature Cornell Mims. He has not sung for us before but has been quite popular at our Happy Hours in the Lounge. I am eager to introduce him to the 80s family! Our October event featured Renee Rojanaro who has performed for us before and is incredibly fun and interactive with the club. Her repartee with those in attendance gave everyone quite a few laughs. One woman brought up a tip for Renee but stated aloud she didn't want her husband coming up because he would have too much fun with Renee's wit. Her voice is so sweet and angelic that it gives her wide variety of songs her own flavor. Some of her songs included Fever, All of Me, Dream A Little Dream Of Me, Mombo Italiano, My Guy, Stupid Cupid and At Last. Renee's voice is wonderful and she is fun. Can't wait to have her back; we love you, Renee! The 80s Club is designed for our Sun Lakes residents near or over 80 years of age along with their guests, no matter their ages. But I have to admit I do not check your IDs and I recently found out we have some members in their 70s … I love that! I also heard someone recently express surprise at the fact that we have many men in our membership. Some have thought it was all women, but absolutely not — a quarter to a third of our attendees are men. Our events are always on the first Saturday of the month and begin at 3 pm. We start with a brief meeting with announcements, then entertainment with the meals starts from 3:30 to 3:45 pm. Each month is very close to the capacity at the South Clubhouse so get your money and reservations in early. Come join us once for the meal price of $20 to see if you might enjoy our group. If you do, you'll need to join for the second time you attend. Our dues are $10 a year per person. Get your checks to Donna Harrington at 5393 Riviera for our Dec. 6 event by Nov. 30. There is a box on Donna's front porch labeled 80s Club for your checks. No reservations will be accepted after the deadline. If you are mailing in your check, we must have it in by the deadline date and make sure your phone number is on the check. Also, please give us the name of any guests you are paying for and bringing. We're always at the South Clubhouse. People begin arriving at 2:30 to get checked in and get their seats, and the program starts at 3 pm. Meals are $20 per person.
