Billiards
One of the unique aspects of playing
billiards is that age does not limit you from
participating and even competing in our
league. Meet one of our legacy players,
Herb Breuer. Herb just turned 96 years old
on Oct. 24. He was born in Vienna, Austria,
and moved to the United States when he
was ten. He enlisted in the military and was
stationed in Germany from 1950 to 1953.
He has lived in Sun Lakes for 25 years and
has been married to his lovely wife, Laurie,
for 41 years. Herb has three children — one
son, Ron Breuer, lives in California and often
visits to play billiards with his dad. The
other son and daughter reside in Arizona.
Herb has been playing billiards for the past
six years and plays almost daily during the
week. He enjoys not just the game but also
the lively energy and laughter in the billiards
room. He looks forward to it every day. Herb
currently plays in the 8-Ball League on the
Break N Run team. One remarkable thing
about Herb is that even at 96, he signed up
for one of our pro-taught billiard clinics to
improve his skills. Few people would make
that kind of effort.
Billiards is a fun group activity that
challenges the mind and builds on the
fundamentals of the game to compete with
others. If you're interested in learning more
