14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2025 | Fall is in the air with the colors and smells of the season. I hope you are enjoying each of our venues. CCL, in these few short months, is adapting and learning about our community's likes and dislikes and has tried to adjust our menus and events to please our members while still maintaining quality and managing costs. You all know that prices for all food ingredients have gone up, and Chef Lala and team are doing their best in all areas to be mindful of our bottom line. Angel's seasonal cocktails and mocktails are here — think luscious caramel & vodka, yum. "Pumpkin White Russian" or "Thanksgiving Margarita." Our Restaurant is open Thursday and Friday only — staffing when only a few guests arrive is inefficient and costly for all of us. Here are some dates to celebrate this month… on Sun., Nov. 2, we observe National Deviled Egg Day and National Redhead Day — enjoy happy hour with friends, redheaded or not. On Tues., Nov. 11, we honor Veterans Day with our annual Veteran Walk, respecting all who have served or are serving our nation. We mark Nov. 11 because it was on this day at 11 am in 1918 that World War I ended. Angel creates a cocktail for every service branch — USAF, JET PILOT, USMC, LEATHERNECK, or a NAVY FIZZ — plus trivia. After WWI, a U.S. Army Captain rode to France's Harry's Bar on a motorcycle sidecar. Famous WWI veteran and WWII correspondent Ernest "Papa" Hemingway loved the rum drink named after a town he loved — Daiquiri, Cuba. Or keep it simple and order beer or wine flights. On Wed., Nov. 12, we celebrate National Chicken Soup Day. Chef Lala's recipe is special; of course, you can also get our regular Split Pea soup. Thurs., Nov. 13, is Men Make Dinner Day — I say, "Men make reservations." Enjoy our popular and delicious prime rib dinner or anything else from the menu. Fri. Nov. 14, is Sadie Hawkins Day — you know what that means: ladies' choice. Invite a neighbor, friend, husband, or beau for cocktails, lunch, or dinner. It's an American folk event and pseudo- holiday originating from Al Capp's classic hillbilly comic strip Li'l Abner (1934–1978). On Tues., Nov. 25, we celebrate National Parfait Day. Thanksgiving in Sun Lakes: Tickets go on sale Nov. 4 at the Sandwedge or the host station for Thurs., Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Day event. Chef Lala has prepared a bountiful buffet feast with seatings at 11 am and 1 pm. Enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, plus carved prime roast beef, stuffed pork tenderloin, vegetables, salads, pumpkin pie, and other tasty desserts. Prices are $39.95 for adults, children ages 5 to 12 only $19.95. Please note all other food and beverage venues will be closed that day. If you prefer celebrating at home and want to avoid the hassle of cooking, don't worry. You can order a complete holiday meal (no later than Nov. 23 at 6 pm) to pick up on Wed., Nov. 26, for just $22.95 per serving. Meal includes both white and dark meat, homemade giblet gravy, traditional sides, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied yams, cranberry relish, roasted vegetables, dinner roll, and pumpkin pie. Warming instructions will be included, with pickup times at 1 pm, 1:30 pm, 2 pm, 2:30 pm, 3 pm, and 3:30 pm. All you need to do is set your table, serve, and enjoy. Reservations and orders must be made in advance by calling (951) 769-6654. We look forward to holiday events as we near the end of another year. December kicks off with our Annual Tree Lighting. Use your creativity to decorate your golf cart for our famous Christmas Parade. Also, we look forward to having house accounts available again soon along with mobile and to-go ordering plus the ability to make online reservations. Of course you may continue to use your credit or debit cards if you wish. Remember, SLCC has always had a dress code along with our other rules and regulations agreed to at time of home purchase. Finally, I'm sure you have noticed the automatic gratuity has been removed again. Our staff works hard to please and serve all SLCC members. Please make sure to show your appreciation. Our Restaurant and Lounge are here for you to enjoy. Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. Until next month, be safe, thankful, and happy living here in our beautiful community. ~ Carole Elliott Restaurant & Lounge Advisory
