| LIFE IN SOLERA | NOVEMBER 2025 | 23
The Solera Bon Appétit Cooking Club met on Sept. 3 for
a fascinating presentation by Zach Thorpe from Lot 22
Olive Oil Company of Redlands. While we were expecting
a simple olive oil tasting, Zach treated us to a much more
enriching experience.
As a local expert with extensive study, credentials, and
honors in the olive oil industry, Zach shared his journey of
starting Lot 22 with just three olive trees. Today, he and his
wife have grown their business into a thriving enterprise
with locations in both Redlands and Riverside. His
presentation covered the process and distinctions between
regular, virgin, and extra virgin olive oils — leaving us all
more knowledgeable and appreciative of the craft.
Members enjoyed a delightful tasting session using
sourdough bread to sample a variety of oils and f lavors.
Attendees had the opportunity to purchase their favorites
on-site and received a QR code for discounted online
purchases.
We also held our traditional raff le basket giveaway,
with proceeds supporting a scholarship for a deserving
Beaumont High School Culinary Program student, chosen
by their teachers.
Our next Bon Appétit Cooking Club meeting will be a
Thanksgiving Potluck on Fri., Nov. 7 from 1 to 3 pm in the
Oakmont Clubhouse Rooms. The Bon Appétit Board will
provide a meat tray, pumpkin pies, and beverages. Members
are encouraged to bring side dishes to complete the meal.
RSVPs are required (typically one week before each
event). This is also a perfect time to join — membership
dues are reduced mid-year!
