Bye, bye, Lanai, we've wrapped up another great season of outdoor Lanai Doo-Wop events, and what a season it was! Gathering by the pool under the open sky created the perfect setting — truly, it doesn't get much better than that. While we still have more events coming up indoors, we can't help but look back with gratitude for the memories we made outside. Our Annual Halloween Dance was a Bash. We were back in the hall for our legendary Halloween Party! You know what that meant, it was time to dust off the cobwebs, grab your broomsticks, and plan your best costume! The night brought out your wildest, wackiest, and most "boo-tiful" ensemble. It was a frightfully fun evening of stomping, mashing, and a little "Thriller" shuffle as we welcomed back the incredible club favorite: Jo Irvin and the Smokin Guns! They played for your dancing and listening pleasure all night long. A big shout-out to the Karla Sando decorating group, she transformed the hall into a festive, ghoulish wonderland. We look forward to seeing all our members at our Election Meeting on Nov. 10. Our last dance for 2025 is "Gobble Til You Wobble, " featuring the fantastic band Cool Rush on Sat., Nov. 22; doors open at 5:30 pm and price is $10 for members, $24 for non-members Even as this year's Doo-Wop season winds down, we're already planning ahead for next year. But before that, we're excited to host a special holiday event: Children Meet Santa on Dec. 6. This event is close to our hearts because of the joy it brings to the children in our community. We would love for all the other clubs to join in and be part of this celebration. If you'd like to help out — as an elf, Santa's helper, or in any other way — please reach out to the Doo-Wop Club. Last year, after the event, many neighbors told me they wished they had known about it. The reason they weren't informed was simple — they weren't members of one of the sponsoring clubs. This year, we want to change that. Our goal is to make sure everyone has the opportunity to join in the fun. That means not only inviting club members but also extending the invitation to all of our neighbors throughout the village. Everyone is welcome to bring their children to meet Santa and share in the holiday spirit. With everyone's help, and a community- wide announcement, I believe we can make this year's Santa event the biggest and most joyful one yet! Written by Tom Harwood | OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2025 | 15 Doo Wop On Sept. 28, we were treated to the fabulous Clay Colton Band who played popular music from the 70s and 80s. We danced to recognizable oldies and goodies, and the volume was just right. The theme was "Fall into Autumn." Everyone said it was one of our best dance parties so far this year. Jeannie & Everett Murrell and Betty Anne & Karl Kreutziger hosted the party. It was perfect to get us in the fall mood! On Oct. 25 (which will have passed when you read this article), the theme was R'Oktoberfest featuring the versatile Gone Blonde Band. Costumes were encouraged. Then, we will take a break in November. Our last party of 2025 will be on Dec. 13, a Saturday night, with the theme of "A Winter Gala." The awesome Breez'n Band has been booked and we expect a sell- out. Cocktail attire is suggested. As we move towards 2026, Let's Dance Club is looking for volunteers to help host a few of our 10 parties scheduled for next year. "Keep on dancing!" Written by Sue Silva, President Let's Dance
