4 | OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2025 | By Tom Porter Thanksgiving Day is quickly approaching, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all SERT Club members for your continuing support. SERT's goal is to help you be better prepared for a medical emergency or disaster. We also wish to express our appreciation and thanks to many other social clubs and individual residents who have made monetary donations for the purchase this year of additional emergency equipment and supplies to support SERT. SERT membership in 2026 will increase to $15/year. The lifetime membership will remain at $200. SERT continues to offer the American Red Cross blended learning class for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED in the Clubhouse. All OHCC residents may attend. You must register for this class in advance at arc.ohccsert@gmail.com. For more information visit the SERT Club Website at https://www.ohccsert.com/red-cross-courses. SERT has added the Stop-The Bleed class which teaches you how to identify and address a life-threatening bleed. This class is FREE to all OHCC residents. To attend, send an email to arc.ohccsert@gmail. com. The class is about 45 minutes. We are looking for additional Emergency Response Team (ERT) members. ERT members serve as OHCC's "first responders" until State, County, and City emergency personnel can arrive. SERT will train you for FREE! We are also looking for residents that have advanced First Aid skills that they have learned throughout their careers in the medical field. To learn more please contact SERT at ohccsert@gmail.com. The Neighbor-Helping-Neighbor program continues to evolve with about 55 members serving as Safety Coordinators. This past year we learned that residents preferred informal events with neighbors on their street, so they can directly connect with their neighbors and form a "buddy system" to share information that may be critical in an emergency. If you can host a street gathering, please contact Annie Gandomi at sc.ohccsert@gmail.com. The Family Care Givers program continues to grow in popularity. This group shares stories and experiences and offers helpful support. They meet on the third Thursday of every month from 7 to 8:30 pm in the Clubhouse. Helping Hands partnered with SERT this year. Helping Hands provides used medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, and other items) for short term use. For information, they can be contacted at hh.ohccsert@gmail.com. SERT is thankful for YOUR support. Stay safe out there! by the Citation Review Committee for a failure to STOP. • Reviewed a delinquency for referral to regular Board meeting. • Reviewed account credit received from Securitas. • Reviewed Intent to Borrow from Reserves for referral to regular board meeting. • Referred to ARC for further clarification and specifications for Z-lot windows, as appropriate. • Discussed several legal matters. In closing, we appreciate the many comments and suggestions we receive. Your involvement at all levels of our community is important. We value working together to make our community the best place to live. Thank you for being a part of making another day in paradise possible.
