| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2025 | 31 REMINDER: Our December event will be Dec. 6 and will feature the music of Lori and Lisa. Looking forward to seeing them again! Our November entertainment had to cancel last minute so he put me together with a saxophonist to fill in for him. We've not had a saxophonist before and I had never heard Darryl Wakefield play before but had to take the chance on him and boy, what a fabulous surprise! The club loved him. He had incredible talent along with a very sweet sense of humor and when I handed the mike over to him after identifying birthdays in the audience he performed Happy Birthday. Later in his show he played Take Me Out To e Ballgame, in honor of the last World Series game that night. Darryl is a new resident in Sun Lakes. Anyone looking for entertainment for their club would be lucky to have him perform. Some of the songs he played were My Cherie Amour, Wave, Girl From Ipanema and Maputo. Those in attendance filled his tip jar and many people said they wanted him to come back. I'm thrilled to now have Darryl in our 80s family of entertainers. Thank you, Darryl. You're great! The 80s Club is for residents near or over 80 years of age along with their guests, no matter their ages. But I have to admit I do not check your IDs and I now know we have some members in their 70s … I love that! I also heard someone recently express surprise at the fact that we have many men in our membership. Some have thought it was all women, but absolutely not, maybe a quarter to a third of our attendees are men. Our events are on the first Saturday of the month and begin at 3 pm, and include a brief meeting with announcements, then entertainment with the meals beginning by 3:45 pm. Each month is very close to the capacity at the South Clubhouse so get your money and reservations in early. Come join us once for the meal price of $20 to see if you might enjoy our group. If you do, you'll need to join for the second time you attend. Our dues are $10 a year per person along with a membership form.. Get your checks to Donna Harrington at 5393 Riviera for our Jan. 3 event by Dec. 28. There is a box on Donna's front porch labeled 80s Club for your checks. No reservations will be accepted after the deadline. If you are mailing in your check, we must have it in by the deadline date; make sure your phone number is on the check. Also, please give us the name of any guests you are paying for and bringing. We're always at the South Clubhouse; people begin arriving at 2:30 to check in and get their seats, and the program starts at 3 pm. Meals are $20 per person. For more information about our club, please contact either Diane Aarhus at (951) 797-3676 or Donna Harrington at (909) 561-5066. 80s Plus Club Country Western Dance Line dance lessons have been well attended thanks to many new dancers joining our club in September and October. We meet every Monday night at the South Clubhouse from 6:30 to 8 pm. During each lesson, we review dances learned previously and introduce one or two new dances. Experienced line dancers and quick learners are welcome to join the club anytime during the year. Beginner classes will resume in September 2025. Dues are $20 per year, with a $3 fee per class. Our final class and holiday party for 2025 will be on Mon., Dec. 8 at 6:30 pm in the South Clubhouse. We will enjoy a meal, prizes, and a short dance lesson. Classes will restart on Mon., Jan. 5. For more information, contact Judy Kirstein at (801) 580-2232 or Mary Ann Ivey at (951) 769-1095. Circus Club Life's a circus and we're all just clowns! Join the Circus Club now and be a part of our Spring Extravaganza. Currently we have several parts available including clowns, balloon- animal makers, jugglers, and magicians. We're also looking for sword/fire swallowers, contortionists, lion tamers, and an individual shorter than 5'3" who weighs less than 150 pounds and is interested in being our human cannonball. If you have any training in Cirque du Soleil and can hang from long sheets while spinning violently without getting nauseated, we have a spot for you. We are also in need of resident cats and dogs who can foster our Flea Circus while the f lea families are not in rehearsal. Finally, if you are good with a whip and have your own top hat, you might be our next ringmaster. Come to our next meeting on Dec. 10 at 6 pm. If you have any questions, just call! ~ Bar Numand Balees, (909) 213-1428
