| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2025 | 3 From the Master Board Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! The Board hopes everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and that the scale reads the same or less than the day before your feast. This is a season of gatherings and celebrations, giving of gifts and eating of traditional foods with family and friends. It's also a time to remember the prior year, successes and failures, growth and rest, challenges and rewards. This has been a memorable year of activity. The Board finalized the negotiations with Spectrum resulting in a large door-fee payment that will rebuild our cash in the Operating Fund. April brought an election with two new enthusiastic members and a new president. It also initiated the start of our service agreement with CCL for Food and Beverage services in our Main Clubhouse facilities. The summer brought some changes in leadership for the Board and a new member was appointed. We launched some new formats for the Open Session and new communication pathways for the advisory committees with the goal of improving the relationship between the Board members and the committees and setting forth opportunities to truly advise the Board on issues and projects as we go forward into the new year. We developed a new insurance broker relationship to update our coverage to industry standards, and launched a project to install a clock tower monument with personalized bricks to remember and celebrate loved ones. This will complete in December. The summer also brought a new dog park to Sun Lakes! Hopefully our dog owners, of which there are many, are finding ways to enjoy the park and fellow dog owners. Many thanks to our Operations staff for making this happen so quickly and with great result! Throughout the summer and fall, our new Board president has introduced a number of innovative solutions to the Board for consideration. Technology that should improve golf course maintenance and security gate access while reducing expenses, and a new vendor who can reduce the losses associated with foreclosed homes. Additional improvements to resident services and community maintenance through the use of technology and new vendor relationships are on the horizon for 2026. The fall brought a major project to go to bid for the community management. As fiduciaries, and after seven years, the Board saw the need to ensure Sun Lakes was getting the best value in terms of services and financials. Let's remember at this time of peace and joy and goodwill that there is also hardship and loneliness. Whichever holiday you celebrate, make it joyful for others. "There are three stages of man: he believes in Santa Claus, he does not believe in Santa Claus, he is Santa Claus." Joe, Bob, Gary, Sandra, Mary Jo
