| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2025 | 51
December is here and the holiday season is upon us, which can be
a particularly vulnerable time for anyone focused on healthy weight
management. Family gatherings and club parties often present a
variety of tasty temptations that are hard to resist. However, this
year can be different and enjoyable at the same time!
With TOPS, all foods fit — including desserts. Losing weight and
becoming healthy does not mean giving up everything, and it's okay
to enjoy some special treats during the holidays. You are more likely
to maintain healthy habits long-term if you plan for foods you love.
The key, whether you are watching your weight or monitoring carbs,
is to control portion sizes and choose healthier ingredients.
Studies show that eating breakfast helps reduce the urge to binge
later in the day.
TOPS is here to provide the support members need during the
holidays and all year round.
Sun Lakes residents are welcome to attend their first TOPS
meeting free of charge.
We meet on Thursday at the South Clubhouse, with weigh-ins from
9 to 9:50 am and the meeting from 10 to 11 am. TOPS is affordable,
and we welcome new members. As a new member, you receive "My
Day One" (a quick-start guide), six TOPS magazines annually, access
to a medical library, and our members-only website. Come join us!
Congratulations to our TOPS Monthly Best Weight Losers: John
Hasha, Fran Perdue, Peggy Andrews, Edith Hasha, and Lolly
Jeffries. Keep up the good work!
KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) members in good standing
for the month include Jim Greet, Carol McKinney, Betsy Messerer,
Suzanne Strauss, and Rosalee Strong. Congratulations to all our
KOPS! You are an inspiration to our TOPS chapter.
Thanks to all our TOPS members who donated and participated
in the Veterans Walk to honor those who served our country.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all residents of Sun
Lakes. For information about TOPS, contact Rosalee Strong at (951)
