Raymond Matthew Kramer, a dedicated aerospace engineer, Marine veteran, and beloved family man, passed away on October 19, 2025, in Coupeville, Washington at the age of 93. Born November 25, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, Raymond's life was marked by a deep commitment to service, innovation, and family. He earned his bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois Champaign campus in 1950 — a foundation that launched a remarkable career in aerospace engineering. While completing his education, Raymond answered the call to serve his country. As a member of the Marine Reserve, he was called to active duty in 1950 and served for two years during the Korean War. His military service reflected the same sense of duty and precision that would later define his professional life. Raymond's engineering career spanned decades and included pivotal roles at both Lockheed and Ford. His work ranged from testing and designing aircraft to system engineering on rockets, interceptors, missiles, and solar energy projects. His contributions helped shape advancements in aeronautics and defense technology during a transformative era in American history. In addition to his engineering accomplishments, Raymond was an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and worked as a personal tax preparer for over 50 years. His meticulous nature and dedication made him a trusted advisor to many over the decades. Beyond his professional achievements, Raymond embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He held an ASEL pilot's license and maintained a lifelong passion for aviation. He found joy in camping and fishing, especially trout fishing in the Sierras; a pastime lovingly introduced to him by his wife Bonnie of 68 years. An avid swimmer and enthusiastic traveler, he also cherished Sunday champagne brunches as one of life's simple pleasures. He and Bonnie lived in Sun Lakes for 35 years before moving to be closer to family in Washington. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife Bonnie; daughters Arleen, Denise, and Melinda; son Matthew; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His legacy lives on through them and through all who were touched by his wisdom and warmth. He was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Catherine Kramer and his sister Aileen Myers. May Raymond's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to those who follow in his path of service, intellect, and love for life.
