6 | LIFE IN SOLERA | DECEMBER 2025 | AB 1572 Water Use and Nonfunctional Turf was passed last year. Basically, this new law gives municipalities until January 2027 to stop using drinking water on non-recreational turf. e date for Homeowner's Associations to stop using drinking water in common areas for all non-recreational turf is January 2029. At that time, we will have to self-verify that we are in compliance. As most of you know, we had been trying to obtain a grant to help us convert 52 percent of our turf in the Greenbelt to drought- tolerant plants. is had a cost of over $800k, and the grant would have reimbursed us for 50 percent of this cost. For the past four years we have not been selected to receive a grant, even though we readjusted our request to meet their requirements. For this reason, we have been working on a plan to make our Greenbelt recreational turf. e funds for the activities will come from Capital Improvement rather than Reserves. In October, the Board approved a Recreation Survey. is survey is currently being counted to determine if the activities are ones that the residents would enjoy playing. e survey also asked for any additional activities to be listed in the comment section. e activities on the survey were: cornhole, croquet, disc golf, horseshoe, miniature golf, and shueboard. ere will also be areas for picnic tables, and the current area for Concerts on the Green and movie night. ese activities were selected because we know that Edison will not allow any structures. Shueboard will be placed on turf that is not on Edison's easement because it is a structure. e other activities can be moved other than miniature golf, which will most likely be placed around the tree area. is will prevent Edison from driving over it. Once the plan is formed and locations are set, we will need to get Edison's approval. Just a note — picnic tables are on this list, however, it needs to be noted that barbecues or hibachis will not be permitted anywhere on the Greenbelt. Fires of any kind are not permitted under the Edison power lines. ank you for participating in this survey. e Finance Committee wishes all of Solera Happy Holidays. We hope you enjoy this season with your family and friends and be safe in your travels. ~ Marcia Casem Finance Committee
