The Colony Cousins Genealogy Club welcomes you to our Tuesday, Dec. 9th meeting at 1 pm in the Annex. This will be an all members meeting with a holiday potluck and sharing about our genealogy pursuits. In preparation for 2026, we will elect next year's officers, discuss future programs, and set directions for the club. All members are urged to attend as this is a very important discussion about the future of Colony Cousins Genealogy Club. Learning about your family has significance for everyone. Studying genealogy is one of the most popular hobbies in the world. The tools and resources to pursue genealogical research are immense. The best way to approach it is to join a group of fellow seekers who can share their knowledge and assist you. We invite all Colony residents to begin or continue the quest with us. Our meeting will start promptly at 1 pm so please plan to sign in at 12:45. For information, please contact Lennie Martin at (503) 269-9987 or lenniem07@yahoo.com. 28 | THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2025 | Although we're dark in December, we welcomed three new Wine Club Board members to replace outgoing members Jeff Hillerich and Dave Matteucci. Grapefully, Dave will be behind the scenes helping us with education and we're pretty sure we can twist Jeff 's talented arm occasionally. New members Tony Harris, Debbie Stevens and Donna Kennedy are dropping into their responsibilities and "crushing it." Meanwhile, Wine Country is knee-deep in their annual Harvest and crushing. Visiting a winery this month is sure to expose you to some of the beauty of our vines. Some are still laden with grapes and many have leaves turning pretty yellows, oranges and reds. Galileo said, "Wine is sunlight held together by water." A pertinent quote as we watch the wineries turn grapes into wine. The November event was a Win-A-Wine event — friends, music, wine, raff le tickets and loads of raff le prizes to thank our membership for their loyalty. In 2026, the Jan. 21 event will be an evening of dinner and wine with Somerset Winery, yet another of our local vineyards. To join the Wine Club, or for more information, contact Sharon Evans at 951-445-3861. Wine Club By Tony Harris Genealogy By Greg Gries As 2025 comes to a close, we're wrapping up another fantastic year on the road together. Our travels have been filled with great memories and even better company. A special thanks to everyone who joined our November trip to Coachella Lakes RV Resort. It was one of our most popular trips, with over 40 attendees. What a great way to close out the year! Looking ahead, the 2026 calendar is shaping up with some exciting trips. We are finalizing plans to visit Borrego Springs RV Resort in February, and we have confirmed Sun Outdoors Wine Country in Paso Robles on May 3rd to 7th. Our Holiday Party is just around the corner. Mark your calendars for Dec. 16, when we will gather for food, fun and plenty of festive cheer. Keep an eye on your email for details on the Holiday Party and 2026 events. If you would like more information on camping or glamping with the Colony Roadrunners, give me a call. Happy Holidays to everyone, and here's to another year of fun, friendship and RV shenanigans next year! Roadrunners RV Club By Laurie Freres, 714-330-0160
