| THE COLONY NEWS | DECEMBER 2025 | 31 Actors Studio has been busy getting our next production started. We announced at our Meet and Greet that we will be doing a comedy, "Harvey," about a man and his friend, an invisible rabbit. Auditions were held on Nov. 12, and performances will be June 6 and 7. We have a variety of non-acting positions to be filled, so if you have an interest in any kind of backstage work or even to try for an acting position, contact Greg Hill at greg@neotechstudios.com or Chuck Gordon at 661-714-3847. Our Theater Academy Improv group has grown. There is no pressure to act, we just have fun games and very short scenarios that we work on. Our December dates will be Monday, Dec. 8 and 14, from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. If you want to check us out and just watch what we do, please feel free to do so, but get ready for some fun and lots of laughter. Actors Studio By Marsha Tobolski, 562-244-9223 Passport to Christmas Are you ready to enjoy a few hours of the delightful holiday spirit? In only a few days, the Colony Chorus will be presenting its Christmas concert, "Passport to Christmas Around the World," and it's sure to lavish its holiday magic on everyone. The concert will take you on a magical, musical trip to other parts of the world for Christmas – to the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Asia, Central and Western Europe, Africa, Oceania, and eventually back home to the USA. There will be songs from all over, and if you're like me, you will probably be surprised that some very familiar songs have come from other countries. Do you have your ticket? Our two performances will be on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7 pm, and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 3 pm, in the Auditorium. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased from any Chorus member or from Katie in the HOA office, or from Carolyn Smith by calling her at 909- 286-9163. Seating will be cabaret-style, with no assigned seating. So gather your family and friends and get ready for a heart-warming holiday trip around the globe — without leaving The Colony! Besides those who buy regular tickets, the Chorus benefits by the extra support of our Patrons, whom we truly appreciate, and who enjoy the benefit of reserved seats in front. If you would like further information about becoming a Patron, get in touch with Dee March at 760-271-9002 or Julie Benningfield at 520-975-0224, but whether you come with a Patron or regular ticket, we hope to see you at one of our performances. Colony Chorus By Ken Luekens Do you enjoy taking photos? Join our new Photography Club! From beginners to seasoned professionals, this club is for you. This will be an opportunity to share and learn. We will have opportunities to take field trips, have guest speakers and education segments. Please call me at 951-660-5865. Photography Club By Greg Lucker If you would like to try something new, our teacher Mary Gasteiger will be back from the holiday break and accepting new students starting Tuesday, Jan. 6. Beginner's class is taught from 4:30 to 5:15 pm, followed by more advanced from 5:15 to 6 pm. Classes are held in the Auditorium and are only $5 per class, with the first one free so that you can "try before you buy." Don't worry about shoes; there will be clogging shoes available to borrow until you decide whether you want to buy your own. This is a fun class to learn how to clog and with no expectations for anyone to join the performance group. Clogging has taps on the shoes and is a form of American Folk Dance. It's a great way to exercise body and brain, and thus as studies have shown, it's a good tool in the fight against Alzheimer's and dementia. If you have questions, please call me at the number above.
