| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2025 |27 Art Lovers Art will always serve to raise our spirits. Sometimes an artist's work is just beautiful, and sometimes expressive. We at Art Lovers enjoy art of all kinds. We try and take interesting trips every month, and we bring art into our meetings. We also like to dine! Our annual holiday luncheon will be on Thurs., Dec. 4th at El Camino Country Club, a new venue. The address is 3202 Vista Way, Oceanside. It will be from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Our guest speaker will be Chuck McPherson, who teaches art and is an artist in his own right. The cost will be $37 for members and $42 for non-members. Leave your check and reservation at the Clubhouse front desk, in the Art Lovers envelope. Being a club that loves art, we can't let a month go by without sharing an artist's work with you. The artist was Robert Miles Parker, and he was a "Historic Preservationist." His goal, besides his art, was to save old buildings and houses from what he called "two story concrete beasts." Although he was born in the south, he spent many years in San Diego and loved it. He called San Diego "A holy place." The museum of the City of New York did a retrospective of his work in 1997. He passed away in 2012. 2026 will bring many new interesting programs to Art Lovers. That is what we are all about. Keeping our members apprised of art around the world, and here at Ocean Hills, plus lunch! Written by Selma Leighton We are fortunate to have a treasure trove of talented artists! At the time of drafting this article for publication in OHCC Living, we are struggling with the shocking theft of a painting on display in the Clubhouse Galleria. The beautiful oil painting (pictured above left) is by Gary Warmuth. We have always been a little concerned about the safety of art on display but continued to hold trust in our friends and neighbors, as we encouraged artists to exhibit their work. Now, that trust has been broken. We want to call your attention to the beautiful art currently on display in the Art Studio that includes works ranging from an oil painting featuring a dynamic underwater scene of two whales, to the delicate almost "see-through" watercolors of portraits and sea life. We continue to be impressed by the talented artists, some of whom are actually beginners to painting. Surely you have noticed the dramatic acrylic painting at the Clubhouse front desk where a crashing wave and diving bird form a colorful scene at the shore! It is by resident Michael Layne. Please come and check out the work on display and be sure to thank the artists who trust our residents to respect their work and to safely feature it in the Art Studio. For future display of art, please contact Judy Harris, Lainy Vinikow (authors of this article), or Mike Thornton who does a great job of installation. Art Studio Robert Miles Parker
