| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2025 | 39 We had lots of bridge playing in October and MANY slams! Our lessons are ending in the second week of December. We have 10 new players that, because of our lessons are actively playing bridge with us. Many of our new players have not played bridge in 20 + years and they found out there are lots of new things to learn. We will be having our holiday party on Dec. 16 which includes dinner and then some fun bridge playing. Our games continue to be on Tuesdays and every other Friday. Please email ohccbridgeclub@gmail.com if you would like to play bridge with us. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a first-time player, the Whiff leball Group welcomes everyone to join in the fun and experience the thrill of the game. NEWCOMERS ARE WELCOME! To sign up, ALL players, new and former, need to contact the Commissioner, Rich Halkyard at redcisc@gmail.com. We will begin playing again in the spring, probably around May 1, and we are always looking for players. It is a co-ed league. Here's how it works: there are three to four players on each team. We play seven innings unless the game reaches the one-hour time limit. We play on Thursdays. Games start at 11 am and we usually end by 2 pm depending on how many teams are playing. We play Over-the-Line style which focuses on batting prowess and strategic ball placement. Hitters try to hit a whiff leball over various lines to simulate singles, doubles, the illusive triple, and home runs. Fielders try to catch the ball before it crosses the designated lines. If you attended October's Master Board Meeting, either electronically or physically, you overheard the OHCC Whiff leball Championship game as Team 2 (Donna Lorek, Allison Womak, and John Gildner) defeated Team 3 (Lori Smith, Cecelia Quinn (aka The Bayonne Bomber), and Fred Fieri 19-9. The game included a two-run homer by John Gildner and featured a remarkable catch by Fred Fieri. Lori Smith set a record as the pitcher hit the most times as Allison drove the ball up the middle nine times hitting Lori. John Gildner and Fred Fieri were our Gold Glove Recipients for their exceptional catches in the field and John and Fred were also our Batting League Champions with two and three home runs, respectively.
