Racquet Club On Oct. 26, the Racquet Club turned the Lanai into a lively "Happy Hour Celebration" honoring more than 200 of its incredible volunteers. Guests mingled over fine wine and delectable hors d'oeuvres while enjoying the smooth sax sounds of San Diego favorite Brian Pierini. The festive event — beautifully chaired by Karena Abrams and Donna Ryan — was a perfect blend of gratitude and good times. Each volunteer received a custom-made name tag, a small token of appreciation for their big contributions. These dedicated members make the magic happen behind more than 30 Racquet Club events every year! As the Granddaddy Club of Ocean Hills, proudly founded in 1984 and now boasting over 560 active members, the Racquet Club knows how to celebrate in grand style. Cheers to another successful year and to our second annual Volunteer Celebration — where fun, friendship, and gratitude hit all the right notes! The final monthly Play & Stay on Dec. 6 closes out our 2025 social events with Sharon and Kevin Sorensen hosting pickleballers on the Clubhouse lawn for conversation, corn hole, and refreshments. Pickleball starts at 9 am, corn hole at 10 am, and the social kicks off at 11 am. Just show up! Susan Fishman and Stephanie Hewitt provided yummy treats to appreciative players last month. The daily schedule at the courts during the holidays doesn't change much, but it's likely that many more residents will have visitors wanting to get on the courts themselves. Court rules vary by sport. For pickleball, morning drop-in is restricted to residents only — no guests. Residents can make court reservations if they have a free Skedda ID available at ohrchelp@gmail.com and they may include up to four guests maximum per time slot as long as the resident is at the courts with those guests. The volunteer-run Help Desk is your go-to source for more information, but plan ahead. One gentle reminder: balls in the pickleball tubes are provided as a courtesy to players; they are not to be taken home. 2026 new memberships and renewals are being accepted now; no need to wait until January's Do Dues Day.
