| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2025 |23 Village Vets Holiday Greetings, Village Vets! What a year it's been! 2025 has truly been another banner year for our club, and we wrapped up the fall season on some real high notes. We kicked things off in September with Lt. Col. Greg Coffey's outstanding presentation on the B-2 Bomber. To say it was well received is an understatement — Greg had us all feeling like we were right there in the cockpit. His insights into the aircraft's role in Operation Midnight Hammer (the U.S. bombing operation targeting Iran's nuclear facilities) were absolutely fascinating. What an evening! Next, we were honored to hear from Col Susz Clark, who shared the powerful story of building a hospital in Qalat, Afghanistan. You could have heard a pin drop as Susz described her team's mission. It was emotional, inspiring, and a vivid reminder of how far our military goes to save not only American lives but also those of civilians caught in conf lict. Susz and her team were truly on the front lines — and they saved lives. There's no higher calling than that. As I write this, I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I'm confident we just enjoyed another memorable Veterans Day Tribute. Planning begins practically the day after the last one ends, and it takes a team of dedicated people to make it happen. A big thank-you to everyone who helped organize, participated, or attended. With about 350 participants, ours continues to be one of the largest Veterans Day observances in the county! Looking ahead, mark your calendars for Dec. 12 and our Celebrate Freedom Holiday Party! Once again, the incredible team of Ros Nesler, Marta Welch, and Patty "Perf " Coffey is bringing the fun. We'll toast the end of 2025 and the start of 2026 with members of Coast Guard Sector San Diego and their families. (Hope you got those reservations before Nov. 23!) And finally, Dec. 13, we'll wrap up the year with our annual Army- Navy Game watch party in the Lanai, sponsored by Rich Halkyard. Will the Navy defend the Commander-in-Chief 's Trophy? You know where my loyalties lie… but no matter what, it's sure to be a great time with great friends. Here's to another remarkable year, Village Vets — and to an even brighter 2026!
