FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2026 49 Life After Loss "Old Guidelines For a New Year" As we bid farewell to 2025, the new year will be accompanied by the usual buzz of unrealistic resolutions, transformation stories, and the promise of a "new year and a new you." But sadly, the experience of grief isn't concerned about the movement of the calendar. The arrival of 2026 won't magically erase the pain. But what if we didn't force change? What if we let ourselves navigate the coming year without the pressure of trying to become someone entirely new? Grief isn't a straight line experience and the weight of our bereavement is part of who we are now. As we step into 2026, we don't have to force transformation or have everything figured out. We grow alongside our grief, and our grief changes as we grow. So instead of setting resolutions this year, let's turn our focus on the little things: Get to Know Your Grief: Instead of pushing the fact of our loss away, try to get to know your grief. Give yourself permission to feel whatever comes up. Celebrate the Little Wins: Even the smallest victories deserve a shout-out. Celebrate the little wins along your journey, whether it's a productive day or just getting out of bed. Find Your Support: Surround yourself with people who "get it." Whether it's friends, family, or a community like Life After Loss, having folks who understand can make a big difference. Be Kind to Yourself: Be gentle with yourself as you navigate through the ups and downs in 2026. Wherever you are in your grief journey is the normal place. This year, don't worry about progress or resolutions. Take your grief journey one moment at a time and don't forget to celebrate the little wins in life. You've got this, even if "this" changes day to day. The Life After Loss Group is about "people helping people" who have encountered any form of grief/loss in their life. Should you desire a deeper understanding of a "life after loss," we invite you to join us. Unless otherwise notified, we meet the first and third Mondays of each month from 1 to 3 pm in RCN Room #3. All information is kept confidential. If you would like to join the group, please text/call Byron Thomsen beforehand at (909) 936-7097 or email him at byron.thomsen@ yahoo.com. ~ Byron omsen Hello 2026! As a Bible study class, we will begin our 14th year on Jan. 9 at 10:30 am in The Lodge Game Room. We will turn our Bible forward to the New Testament and the Book of Hebrews and will be studying this amazing book in depth. We will finish the year with the study of the Book of Revelation written by the Apostle John while he was exiled on the Island of Patmos. Although we studied both of these books several years ago, this study will be geared toward thoughtful, in-class discussion. It is always a joy to revisit the pages we have previously studied, because there is always something new the Bible can teach us. If any of you Four Seasons ladies are interested in joining us for this study, please put us on your calendar, bring any version of the Bible, and share time with us! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine, (951) 922- 6829 or egcellent@msn.com Join your friends at Four Seasons on Sunday, Jan. 25, from 6 to 7 pm at The Courts for a time of praise in song as well as personal sharing focused on "The Heart of Worship," led by a Four Season resident. The Gathering hopes to provide an informal time of worship and teaching, focusing on more familiar hymns and choruses as well as inspirational teaching from God's Word. We look forward to seeing you there . If you have questions or need transportation, please call Julia Dobos at (626) 227-3295 or Kathie Sundstrom at (303) 903-6850. ~ Julia Dobos "Believe …" Women's Bible Study The Gathering
