e Sunshine Club members were busy little elves during December. We shopped and wrapped gis for two special children, ages 1 and 11, provided to us by Winter Wish. We also contributed to Jesse Donardt for Support the Troops, one of everyone's favorite Solera residents. See the pictures above. In addition, all the elves gathered to assemble 72 stockings for the children at Ronald McDonald House. e next day we jumped in our sleighs and headed out for delivery. is wonderful charity provides a place where families can stay while their child is receiving critical care at a local hospital. ey are provided with a place to sleep, cook meals, and playtime for their other children. We are sure the stockings will put smiles on the children's faces and provide them with some fun activities! In addition to these elf activities, we continued our cards, calls, and visits for Solera residents. Recycling makes all this possible. Please continue your generous donations of plastic bottles and aluminum cans with CA-CRV or CA CASH REFUND (no glass please). ese items can be deposited in closed bags inside the gated area next to the Mail Room. Please feel free to join us at our next meeting on the third Wednesday of the month from 1 to 2 pm in the Arts & Cras Room. Chronic illnesses, hospitalization, and/or death can hit people hard. If you have a friend or neighbor here in Solera who needs a spark of sunshine, let members of the Sunshine Club know. For your convenience, the yellow Sunshine Box is located on the table in the Mail Room where you can drop off the information for a resident or residents who are sick or have experienced a death in the family. Sometimes just a card or telephone call will brighten someone's day immensely.
