| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2026 | 29 Cart Parades: The Holiday Cart Parade with the pre-parade line up was held on Dec. 13. The parade is always a big hit with the community. Some of the cart decorations and driver costumes were amazing. Lots of people showed up for a preview and a closer look at the golf cart decorations and driver costumes. What the parade lacked in terms of the number of carts was more than offset by the decorations and costumes and the enthusiasm of residents as the parade went by their homes. Pictures next month. Flag Angels: Flags went up on Four Seasons and World Cup for Pearl Harbor Day. The next f lag posting will be Martin Luther King Day. The new f lags made their debut on Veterans' Day and played to rave reviews. Thank you, Cliff Post, Barbara Balser, and the rest of the Board and Jon Payne for making it happen! The Angels celebrated turning in the old f lags and receiving the new f lags on Nov. 2. After Donna and I "penciled" all 1,600 f lags, we had to dispose of the old f lags (1,700) of them. Orville Ellingworth to the rescue! He brings the damaged and old f lags to the VFW where they have an official destruction process. This month's highlighted angel is Donna McLaughlin. Donna, of course, is my lovely wife of 56 years and a retired f light attendant. She moved from the beaches of Carlsbad to Hemet almost 20 years ago! She loves Four Seasons and its' residents. She has been an Angel for 10 years. She has been on the Social Committee, Team Sunshine, the driving force behind the infamous Buckeye Bashes, host (along with Debbie Frazier, Linda Negrete, and Stella Torres), for all three cart parades, and decorator of the exterior of The Lodge for the Holidays and Halloween cart parades. The next time you see Donna give her a well-deserved "thank you!" The Flag Angels ranks are constantly changing. Several angels have had to resign for assorted reasons. I have used up the substitutes and always need some volunteers to take a route. Robin Fournier (featured last month and a real energy Flag Angel) is retiring after the first of the year. She will be missed. If anyone is interested in being a Flag Angel, please contact me (951) 973-4149, or email me at mikemcla43@aol.com).
