In Loving Memory PAUL GAFFIN 18 | OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2026 | Happy New Year 2026! What a whirlwind of activity we had in the Clubhouse for the month of December. It just blew by with over 18 extraordinary events and ended with a glamour of glitz for our New Year's Eve celebration. We hope everyone is ready to attend the annual club membership drive called "Do Dues Day" on Sat., Jan. 10 from 10 am to 2 pm. Bring a checkbook, yes, a checkbook! The RV Club will be selling their delicious hot dog lunch and only cash will be accepted. In years past, those who attend always say how much fun it is to see their old neighbors again and learn about the over 37 clubs, classes, and events. Our Recreation Happenings on the next page will give more details about what is planned for the upcoming months. Another Tri-City LunchWise and an Impersonators night are on the books in the first quarter of 2026. The new phone directories will be available at no cost, one per household. The annual golf course tags are now available to residents who play golf and f ling golf. Guests must be accompanied by a resident with a tag. The color of the annual 2026 tag is a bright orange and must be displayed when using the Course. Rules on the back are to be reviewed. Appropriate golf attire is to be always worn. The Community Services Committee invites residents to attend their meetings on the second Friday of each month at 10 am. Their agenda includes time for residents to express their ideas and concerns. The Committee is often responsible for reviewing Clubhouse activity, improvements, equipment, rule and regs, and furnishings. This is to include the surrounding recreational areas. They also consider guest speakers of interest, government affairs, and community-wide events. It looks to be a wonderful year for the OHCC Clubhouse. There is energy in the air, with so many new residents moving in, bringing enthusiasm to the clubs and the committees. Get involved, if you have difficulty making new friends- then, BE ONE. From all the staff here, we wish you a happy, healthy, and active 2026! Managing Editor's Note This will be my last time to draft an article for this publication. After one week shy of celebrating 22 years in this position, I will be leaving OHCC on Jan. 9, 2026. It was a bittersweet decision, but I must deal with the immediate needs of my family. I do not want to use the word "retiring" because I do not want to ever do that. Thank you for your support, encouragement, your heartfelt conversations, the laughter we have shared, and all the fun times we have had together in and around the Clubhouse. Special thanks is extended to the entire staff. Over all these years, I have worked with such a talented group of people — some of whom I continue to meet with regularly. It has been a wonderful journey, as so much in life has changed. Years ago, I answered the ad for a Recreation Director placed in the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper. With all the stories I could tell, I could author a book on the leisure lifestyle. Thank you all, I am so incredibly grateful for having had this opportunity and so blessed to have been a part of your Paradise. See you around town, how about Costco? Make that New Year's resolution to walk the aisles — and accomplish 10,000 steps a day for a healthier 2026! ~ Chris Bessey, Managing Editor Recreation News By Christy Bessey
