Free Swim Lessons: The OHCC Swim & Wellness Club offers FREE swim lessons to club members. Are you a beginner who may be fearful of water? Maybe you just want a refresher in proper form or breathing techniques. An advanced swimmer might want to learn to do a flip turn. Parkinson's Support: Our Support Group meets the first Thursday of every month at the Clubhouse at 3 pm in the Majorca Room. We are a growing group of those with Parkinson's and their Caretakers. By sharing your challenges and successes with others on the same journey, we help each other find strategies for coping with Parkinson's. We offer participation in a walking group, weekend ping pong, an outside dance group, outside exercise groups and our social activities of Happy Hours and get-togethers! Easy Yoga: Easy Yoga is offered by resident Jody McDonough via video. Come and join her class to rejuvenate your spirit, mind and body. Bring an exercise mat, small pillow and towel. Gentle Yoga: Gentle yoga is free class led by OHCC resident Anna Grinshpun. Anna is certified yoga instructor and has been teaching yoga since 2004. The class is held Tuesdays, 10 to 11:15 am and Thursdays, 3:30 to 4:45 pm. The class emphasizes full body stretching with deep breathing and some meditation. The results of practice will bring your body into alignment and to a peaceful state. Please bring a yoga mat and a large towel/light blanket for a start. We have on Board (LOL), many games including Rummikub, Sequence, Scrabble, Dominos, Backgammon, Pictionary, Mexican Train, Taboo, Yahtzee and more. If you have a game, you love that's easy to teach, bring it along. Come join us for some competition, fun, laughter and friendship. If you would like to bring a snack for yourself or the group, do so! Ladies and Gents GAME ON. Fling Golf: Fling Golf is a FUN new sport to enjoy on our wonderful golf course. Alzheimer's and Dementia Caregivers Support Group : Support groups create a safe, confidential and supportive environment. They give a chance for participants to develop mutual support and social relationships. Meetings will be held on the first Thursday of each month in either the Art Room or the Music Room, please check with the front desk when you arrive. Check at reception for room location. All are welcome to join if you wish to learn, share, and benefit from what others have experienced. We discuss what has and has not helped with the symptoms of neuropathy. Just show up! We'll be glad to see you. Morning Exercise Class: This is a resident led, free class. Glass Classes: Tuesdays, 1 to 3 pm and Thursdays, 10 am to 12:30 pm. Tuesday is Fused Glass class and Thursday is Stained Glass class. Stretch and Balance: This is a video led class held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9 to 10 am. This class helps develop strength, stability, and balance. This class is FREE. Tai Chi Class: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 to 10 am. Join us to improve balance, increase strength and reduce stress. This is a video led class and is FREE. OHCC Drum Circle: Saturdays, 11 am to 12 pm, you can join a Drum Circle in the Clubhouse. Meet with us for a rhythmic, meditative experience with percussion instruments. No experience is necessary. Our group is led by resident and professional musician/drummer, Keith Thompson. You don't even need a drum but if you have one, bring it. There is no charge. Sunday Bunco: We play on the first Sunday each month in the Mykonos Room, 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Each player brings $5 contribution to the prize money and something to share (like a snack, or beverage). Most supplies are available in the Craft room, including the glass and materials that have been donated to us by prior glass artists. If any supplies become unavailable, or are not of your preference, you will be asked to buy them. Whether you're a beginner or experienced artist, you'll enjoy clear instruction, inspiring projects, and a fun, supportive environment. All supplies are included. No RSVP required, just drop in.
