| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2026 |23 Village Vets The Village Vets had a busy and memorable 2025. Along with reviewing our activities, we extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who made these events possible. Regrettably, I'm constrained by 400 words when writing these articles, but we accomplished a great deal. Our January, 2025, meeting featured Harriett Jo Joslyn with Honor Flight San Diego. Several members participated in honor f lights, and welcoming heroes home at the airport was a thrill. Special thanks go to Smitty for his efforts. In March, thanks to Robert Genat, the Midway docent team gave us a virtual tour. Looking ahead, Robert has arranged for Darrell "Condor" Gary, an F-14 Gunslinger, to speak at our first general meeting in January, 2026. April brought our first unscheduled meeting, featuring Amada Health Care and Apreva Hospice, who gave an excellent presentation on VA Aid and Attendance. In May, the annual Hot Dog Extravaganza, produced by Greg and Patty Coffey, was a huge success. Guest speaker LCDR Tracy Adams joined us and gave a superb presentation on the important work being done by Support the Enlisted Project (STEP). June included another unscheduled meeting with representatives from the VA National Cemetery. Veterans are reminded to ensure their loved ones know about VA burial benefits. July was our annual offsite trip, this time to the Submarine Training Group Pacific. Team leaders Marty Budoff and Michael Welch ensured everything went smoothly and all members returned safely. September brought another unscheduled meeting featuring Greg Coffey's outstanding B-2 Bomber basing presentation. Our final General Meeting of the year was highlighted by Susz Clark, whose presentation was simply incredible! Veterans Day brought a huge turnout and a few surprises. Challenge coins were given to attending veterans, and those who missed out can contact David Hef ler or me to receive theirs. Special thanks go to Colonel Battles, Colonel Clark, CW5 Adams, CMSgt Ashby, and all the volunteers who made the day unforgettable. Although I am writing this a month in advance, I know our annual party was a huge success thanks to Ros Nesler, Patty Coffey, and Marta Welch, who spent much of the year planning and organizing an affair to remember. We are confident 2026 will be another great year for the Village Vets. Do Dues Day is Jan. 10. Our first general meeting is on Wed., Jan. 28, 2026. See you soon! Written by Bob Bechill
