Racquet Club On Sat., Jan. 31 we'll host a Meet & Greet from 3 to 5 pm at the Lanai for members (new and continuing) and any resident interested in our 2026 activities and meeting our leaders, key volunteers, and coaches. No formal program, no RSVP required, just mark your calendar and drop by. The Racquet Club fun extends off the courts as well: from monthly socials on the Clubhouse Lawn to a big summer music event on the Lanai to the month-long cornhole competition each September, and more. Our Help Desk, court bulletin boards and website showcase club activities – but it's always more fun sharing information in person. Find us at Do Dues Day or see us at the Jan. 31 Meet & Greet! Paddle tennis is like a tennis game, but with some wonderful differences. Smaller court, so less distance to run – and no overhead serve, so less stress on the shoulder and elbow. It's scored like tennis, but you use a paddle and a less bouncy tennis ball. The two courts next to the HOA office are dual-use courts (paddle tennis and pickleball), and the Monday morning gang that shows up for paddle tennis drop-in is always happy to show the curious just what a fun sport – and good exercise – it is. Stop by – they're a very welcoming group. Our tennis community's steady growth since June has been a labor of love for our determined tennis committee. Greg Smith, David Singer, Margo Barnard, Veronique Naegle, and Kirby Koetz have recruited and rallied residents with twice monthly member- hosted mixers for all levels of play and a monthly club night that starts with drills and games and finishes down the street at Grand Slam Pizza. USTA elite tennis pro Greg Smith maximizes his impact during the months he's here with a variety of free clinics, refresher courses, ball machine drills and technique and strategy sessions. He's been generous with his time and talent. This year's plans include team events to create friendly competition along with larger events at the start and end of summer that include play plus festive socials. A roster of active players is available to arrange your own games. Pickleball is the big draw, and over the past year we've seen dozens of new residents bring pickleball paddles with them when they move in! Free beginner lessons are available to all residents, and our instructional program continues to expand with volunteer-taught classes as well as clinics from professionally certified coaches.
