10 | THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2026 | Happy New Year everyone! As the holiday lights are being packed away, your Architectural Control Committee (ACC) is already hard at work exploring various types of residential outdoor lighting. We are taking the Murrieta Municipal Codes into consideration as we look into responsible outdoor lighting. These ordinances contain specific provisions governing light trespass, light intensity, and fixture placement, particularly concerning areas near adjacent properties or open spaces. Our goal is to assist residents in enhancing the safety, security and aesthetics of their properties while complying with both community standards and municipal regulations. We recognize the challenge of balancing these needs, and we are investigating options that would benefit everyone. The ACC looks forward to sharing specific recommendations in the future. ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL By Gloria Brosky and Lori Dalfonso ACCESS CONTROL & SAFETY The November statistics are as follows: 29,351 gate entries were recorded consisting of guests, recreational vehicles, vendors and golfers. Allied Security performed six property/resident checks, 32 stop sign violations and 12 speeding violations. There were 29 medical, fire and police incidents. Allied cited 45 residents for various parking violations and 25 residents for putting trash cans out too early and/or not putting them away on time. There were 55 garage doors left open and Allied made calls to each resident to advise them to close them. Allied responded to 116 miscellaneous incidents related to dogs (barking, lost, off leash), suspicious activity, trespassers, signage not allowed, disorderly conduct, vehicle accidents, welfare/wellness checks, gate strikes/ tailgaters, and broken/burst water lines. MEET YOUR STREET! This is the third Meet and Greet we've had on Corte Sabio. Our woodworker, Pat Harding, cut out and sanded our penguins for "Penguin Place" for this holiday season. His elves finished the painting. Everyone in the neighborhood got to take one home. SUNSHINE COMMITTEE
