| THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2026 | 35 Men's Golf By Sam Currie, 9510461-0801 A big thank you to all who attended our November Pancake Breakfast and to those who kindly donated by purchasing breakfast tickets, making this another very successful event. All money raised from both the June and November breakfasts provide funding for our scholarship program for Murrieta High School athletes. As well as being accomplished athletes, having been selected by their high school coaches, those chosen must meet specific educational standards and be college bound. These monetary awards are sent directly to their college of choice and added to their account for purchase of required books and equipment. Presentations for the Scholarship Awards are made during the June CMGC luncheon following a golf tournament on the Colony Golf Course with the chosen students and their coaches. Racquet Club By Karen Nichols, 619-550-8194 Happy New Year to all of our wonderful members! We finished the year with a beautiful Christmas celebration in December. Thanks to Harriet Henderson and her crew, we had a very lovely evening, which started with plenty of social mingling, followed by a great meal, a gift for each table, and music and entertainment by The Doo Wops. The Doo Wops are a fun and talented band that was formed in 2012 by a few Colony residents and now play for various clubs and for the Players Theater Group. The members who performed were Ron Rodarte, Terry Thatcher, Pat Kight and Rob Presberry. Thank you all for making our Christmas dinner extra special, you are so appreciated! We wish you all a fabulous and Healthy New Year in 2026. See you all on the courts!
