28 | THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2026 | Our November Win-A-Wine event was a huge sellout success. All 180 of us enjoyed a great pasta meal, wine baskets made by our own Donna Matteucci and a $100 gift certificate donated by GrapeLine for a wine tour. We were dark in December and preparing for a 2026 schedule jam-packed with grape events. We'll kick things off in January with a visit from Temecula's own Somerset Winery. They will bring some good wines for us to taste, and we'll have a great meal and the chance to buy some of the Somerset wines. Tickets for our February event will be available on Monday, Jan. 26, in the Clubhouse Lobby. It is our Bubbles and Bites, with sparkling wines, dinner and a special champagne and chocolate dessert. All of it low calorie, super healthy and all fun (okay, maybe just the last one is true). Don't forget to bring your favorite appetizer or a bottle of wine to our events to share with your table. The winter season is a great time to visit the Temecula Wine Country and see the beautifully lit rows of vines, or for Sunday Brunch and live music. Visit TemeculaWines.org to look at events or to order one of their SIP Passports with discounts for wine tastings. Nebbiolo New Year! Wine Club By Tony Harris, 951-401-7877 Happy New Year to everyone. It seems no matter the time of year, our gardens always need some type of upkeep. Jane and I are taking the month off and using the time to plan our events of the year. We would love to hear from you with suggestions for our club. Please feel free to email either of us: Gloria Brosky, goldenmom2finn@gmail. com or Jane Payne, janepayne3@verizon.net. The Colony Guitar Society (CGS) is a non- dues resident club of intermediate guitar players. We're not a band, and we don't give lessons. Our club is open to any resident player interested in interacting with other players while learning and improving their skills and knowledge of guitar. Approximately twice a year a member will present a "Master Class" on a topic of that member's choosing for 10-20 minutes. Past examples include "Adjusting your Guitar" and "What are Modes?" We meet in the Card Room on the second (Master Class) and fourth (Jam Session) Mondays of every month. Acoustic and electric players are welcome. We have a frequent guest percussionist, and some members also play other instruments (e.g., Bass, Sax). We have performed in The Colony, and we did a field trip (Taylor Guitar factory). For more information, contact either of the founding members: Manny Gomez (finegtrplayer@yahoo.com) or Joe Roux (joerouxpmp@gmail.com), phone 949-813-4526.
