FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2026 57 "Exercise??? I thought you said extra fries!" At this time in our life, humor and laughter play a significant role in our health. It has been said that "a deep belly laugh is a massage for your internal organs" that includes your heart. We associate February with love, f lowers, candy, and Valentine cards. But in 1963, Congress and President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first proclamation to designate February "American Heart Month." Let's be kind to our hearts and exercise. Our Table Tennis Club celebrates healthy hearts with the color red in our club photo. We invite you to play ping pong with our big-hearted and fun-loving players. "Our hearts are healthier together." See you Monday through Saturday, 2 to 4 pm at The Courts. ~ Mary Baer, baerhuggy@icloud.com Table Tennis Rainy weather has limited our court time but not our love of the game. Looking forward to the new year with exciting tournaments. I'm most excited about our annual Trifecta tournament. Dates for tournaments are still pending. See you on the courts. ~ Lizzie Gallegos, ecgallegos@outlook.com Paddle Tennis At this time in our life, humor and laughter play a significant role in our health. It has been said that As of this writing, it appears that table tennis may be locked out of The Courts due to water damage from the deluge of rain that we have had during this past week. If the past is any indication, there is the very real possibility that we may be temporarily moved to the Aerobics Room, where we will be engaging in a very active sport adjacent to a mirrored wall. The bad news is that crashing into a giant mirror during ping pong play in the Aerobics Room can motivate a switch to cornhole. The good news is that we now have the opportunity to assess how the events of this past year (and what a year it was) have impacted our aging wrinkles and hairless domes. Approach the mirror at your own peril. Looking ahead, members of the Four Seasons Table Tennis Club will have the opportunity to participate in a number of events this year. These include the Chinese New Years Party, which will be held on Feb. 21 in The Lodge Ballroom, and the 2026 Oldlympics in the fall, which gives us seniors the chance to prove that aging is strictly a state of mind by affording us the ability to show off our table tennis athletic skills. The Spin & Slam Table Tennis Club was designed as a chance to join a group of experienced and knowledgeable players and engage in a competitive sport that requires quick reflexes and hand/eye coordination, both of which are extremely beneficial to us seniors. Although there is no skill requirement to join the Spin & Slam Club, we do appreciate that you possess a keen understanding of the rules of the sport, in addition to making a great effort to serve the ping pong ball according to USTTA rules (see last month's Breeze article). We meet Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 10 am in The Courts (unless it's water-logged). If you don't have your own ping pong paddle, we have plenty of spare equipment to choose from. See you at the tables! ~ Bob Rubenstein, brube88@gmail.com Spin & Slam Back row, L-R: Hailu, Allen, Perry, Tony, Bruce, Ben, Pete, Soo, Richard, Niles Front row, L-R: Frank, Julia, Sandy, Sally, Paco, Mary, Dennis, Jeanine
