FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2026 61 4x4 Seasons Along with the wonderful Christmas lunch that our group shared at Emilio's Mexican Restaurant in Hemet, December also brought a fabulous outing to the beautiful Thomas Mountain Truck Trail off Highway 74 in the San Bernardino National Forest. The trail is roughly 14 miles of unpaved road, winding through rugged terrain that feels refreshingly untouched. Driving requires attention and patience, but that's part of the appeal. As the route climbs higher, the reward comes in the form of sweeping, panoramic views that stretch from Lake Hemet to Garner Valley with ridgelines, forests, and distant valleys offering a perspective that's impossible to find from paved roads below. If you enjoy exploring California's striking off- road landscapes, please join our group. Along with our regular monthly treks, an April trip to Death Valley is currently in the planning stages. Our home base will be Beatty, Nevada, and we will be exploring the Rhyolite Ghost Town, Badwater Basin, Ubehebe Volcanic Crater, and various other points of interest. If you are interested in joining us, our meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm in the RCN Conference Room and we typically schedule an outing for Thursday of the same week. We look forward to seeing you there. ~ Scott D. Snyder, scottdonaldsnyder@gmail.com Winter is upon us and that means some cold and wet weather. So, we miss some playing days because of this. However, on the good days when the courts aren't wet, we enjoy our game. We are playing using our winter hours, which means that we start play on Mondays and Saturdays at 9 am. We continue to play at the shuff leboard courts at The Lodge, behind the swimming pool and next to the paddle tennis courts. We enjoy our own quiet area for playing. A great way to start your day is to come out and join our group for some fresh air, exercise, and socialization. Shuff leboard is an easy game to learn and almost anyone can quickly become proficient. Our games usually last about an hour or so and we randomly select different teams each time that we play. This keeps the competition challenging and the games more interesting. We have no losers, only non- winners. We have a wonderful group of residents who play regularly but we are always eager to welcome new players. If you are interested in joining a fun activity with friendly residents, please come out on a Monday and/or Saturday morning a little before 9 am. We will introduce you to the game of shuff leboard in case you have never played before. If you have played before and just need a review, we can give you a refresher. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Otherwise, I hope to see you at the shuff leboard courts. ~ Marty Rotman, (310) 948-1693, mrtmj@aol.com Shuffleboard Where are the players on a wet day? Members enjoyed the outing in December
