30 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2026 | Pet Lovers Club Pet Lovers Club President Ellen Kippel reports that we had a great turnout for Do Dues Day. Thanks to our renewing members and welcome to those joining us. We wish health and happiness for all of our members and for the pets whose lives enrich us immeasurably. Written by Ellen Kippel and Karen Hasting Music Lovers Lots of good things are coming up for our club and I don't want you to miss anything. Our first big music event of the year is scheduled for Feb. 14 in Abravanel Hall. It's on Valentine's Day and we want all our wonderful members to know we love you and want you to be our Valentines this year. No need to bring a "date." Come join the fun! Summit Drive is the band performing for us and if you don't already know, they're a really wonderful dance band and you're going to love them. Admission is $19 for members and $24 for non-members. Leave your checks at the front desk for the Music Lovers envelope and we'll call or email to confirm. Our Board members have met and we're starting up the Variety Show Committee. We're looking for people excited to begin planning this year's event which will be in June. We need volunteers for director, producer, stage manager and we need musicians and performers and people with great ideas. Contact our president or anyone on the Board to find out how you can get involved. Do Dues Day was a huge success, and I want to welcome our renewing members as well as all our new friends who have joined us this year. We can't wait to meet you all. Look for news about our name tags that we'll be ordering, and we hope you'll all want to get involved with one or many of our events this year. Don't be shy. For starters, come to Coffee House Monday and start meeting other members while listening to great tunes. Look for upcoming news in our email updates and pick up the Music Lovers Club annual calendar in the rack so you never miss an event. And save the date for our St. Patrick's Day Music event on March 14. We've got a great San Diego Music Award winning dance band we've lined up and lots of dance floor to fill from 6 to 9 pm; members $19; non-members $24. Don't miss it! Lastly, let's celebrate our members with birthdays this month: Nargis Ahmed, Janice Balog, Lisa Broadway, Susan Fishman, Herbert Friedman, Steve Hitt, Nina Klein, Ginny Koon, Elaine Massai, Sue Porter, Sandi Royce, Brian Tisher, and Myrna Weber.
