| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2026 | 37 Golf Club Happy LOVE of GOLF Month! Our club is back in full swing after a wet start to 2026. This month we are doing a spotlight on Bill Nordberg a long- time resident and handicapper of 2.4 he represents our club as an accomplished and lifelong learner and player. Starting as a caddy for 50 cents at 12 for his dad, he quickly learned the game its etiquette and respect for the game. His first 18 holes at the age of 13 scored 113 and Bill was hooked as golf is challenging, competitive and downright difficult. The following 20 years golf was limited due to military service, other sports and work. Transferring to Seattle in 1972, he began playing with high level former college golfers who inspired him to watch them swing, how they practiced and managed themselves on the course which hooked him further into the game. After five years, he finally caught up with them and kept what he learned and put it into practice. PRACTICE is the key and learning how to hit shots that work for you, repeatable shots and swings that you have confidence in is what matters. Fast forward 70 years from being his dad's caddy, Bill is living here in OHCC and feels honored to still be playing and making lifelong friends. Bill quotes a past Masters champion who said, "you never give up trying to improve or learn." Like the golf teachers on TV say, "If you keep doing what you're doing, you're going to keep getting what you're getting." Look for Bill in the practice area which happens to include the bunker because that's where the player with the lowest gross score of 23 on nine holes this past season will be, yes that's five birdies and four pars. In other golf news we have our first Guys and Dolls tournament on Feb. 14 so get your teams who love golf and Cupid to come out and play. Next up is Touring Amateurs on April 13 at Native oaks. We continue to have our Mixed Mondays, Men's Tuesdays, Niners Tuesdays, Ladies Wednesday and Fling on Fridays. The Golf Club needs more volunteers; it is the best way to meet all our amazing golfers/f lingers in Ocean Hills. Written by Teresa Deutman This month the Table Tennis Club is proud to congratulate and honor OHCC's very own "Marty Supreme," Martin Sundel. Marty competed in several events in the US Open Table Tennis Championships that were held in Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas during Dec. 16 – 21, and has returned victorious winning medals in several different catagories. Gold for 85 & Over Men's Singles and, yes, that makes him THE current US Champion in the 85+ group! Also, Bronze for 80+ Men's Singles, and Bronze for 80+ Men's Doubles events.
