This will absolutely start your year off with a bang. If you do your homework, you'll know that Dean Z does not disappoint. Can't wait to see you in Abravanel Hall on Feb. 21! Submitted by Beverly Taylor ocean Hills Society for the Performing Arts Club W Club W was formed, originally, as the "Widows Club," to help people who had lost their spouse. Today, as "Club W," we are still here to help folks, but also to provide entertainment and assistance, and more fun for our members. With that in mind, we, at Club W, wish to thank Chris Bessey, our Recreation Director, who is leaving after 23 years. She has always been here to help when we needed it. We thank her for her motto, which we should all live by, "Only a life lived for others is a life worth living." That is something that we at "Club W," respect. We had our first Thursday luncheon at Hidalgo Bistro in Vista. Lauretta Hartzell will be planning these Thursdays throughout the year. We visited the Oceanside Museum of Art and enjoyed our monthly meeting in Abravenal Hall on Jan. 17. Our speaker that day, was Jonathan Schwartz, Gerontologist and founder of "Partners in aging." He explained how laughter reduces stress, strengthens relationships, and can even improve physical health. We all walked away smiling. Our program in February will be our own president Carol Ann Wakef, speaking on "successful American women artists." Carol Ann was a docent for many years and has a great deal of experience. So, join us, even if you are not a member. We would love to meet you. Written by Selma Leighton
