| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2026 | 39 Our OHCC Bridge Club is excited to have so many new active members! We had a wonderful Holiday Party in December with 55 attending and staying after dinner to play bridge! We continue to have bridge lessons for members to improve their game on Wednesdays from 3:00 - 4:30 pm at the clubhouse. This time of year, we are focusing on modern conventions and strategies that help us be better players. The Bridge Nationals will be in San Diego next fall and we're hoping to have some of our players compete. We continue to have duplicate games on Tuesdays and every other Friday. Looking for some fun on a Friday afternoon, please join us in open play. Please email the club at ohccmahjongg@gmail.com and ask to be added to the Friday Drop-In notification list. You will receive an email each week asking about your intent to play that Friday, just reply back and you are in! We had over 25 members RSVP for the first one. What a wonderful start! Patti Lightholder is our leader for both Friday and Saturday afternoon drop-ins. Drop- ins also occur on Thursday afternoons for intermediate players, led by Drora Oren from 3 to 5 pm. For seasoned games Christi Abshier leads the Thursday 6 to 8 pm group. Just email the club and we will take care of the rest. As a reminder, to participate in drop-ins, you must be a member in good standing for the current year. Dec. 18, 2025, was a special day for the club. 67 members enjoyed a wonderful lunch and remained to stay and play afterwards. Social co-chairs Chrisiti and Janeen did an amazing job with beautiful decor, delicious food and fun table favors. Thank you, ladies, they are pictured together in the photo. The other photo is a combination of the outgoing and incoming Board. New to the Board this year are Gail Latino and Nancy Resnick as social co-chairs, Tatis Cervantes- Aiken as co Vice-President, Lynn Bible as Webmaster, and Elizabeth Westwater as Treasurer. Dawn Edwards, Alice Robeson, Christi Abshier, and Dorothy Miller (not pictured) are rolling off the Board. Dawn is keeping her position as chief educator and will be leading the quarterly teaching sessions (please sign up at the front desk). Please mark your calendars for the following currently scheduled club wide events: Fri., Feb. 13 from 2 to 4 pm, April 30, from 4 to 7 pm, Aug. 8, for the Annual Tournament (all day event with half day option) and Dec. 1, Holiday Event. The 2026 Board is so excited to lead the OHCC Mah Jongg Club this year, we have new ideas that we are thrilled to be rolling out and want to encourage all of our residents to enjoy this fun game. Next month we will be answering the question, "what if you pick up a tile, but don't look at it, can you put it down and call the last tile that was discarded?" What do you think?
