| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2026 | 11 Sun Lakes Committee Reports Sun Lakes Country Club has numerous golf activities for residents to participate in. These include women and men's golf clubs for both the Championship and Executive Courses. The Saturday Morning Golf Group is open to women and men on the Executive Course. These golf clubs all hold member tournaments with a variety of formats. In addition to these clubs, there are many golf activities for residents to take part in even if you are not a regular golfer (Pass Putters; Pitch, Putt, Play; Pro Shop organized events; and annual Charity tournaments). Golf is a great way to get involved in the Country Club community you live in. Scheduled in the first quarter of 2026 is renovation of back nine fairway sand traps on the Championship Course. The renovation will utilize the same liner system and continue the same level of updating and contouring as the previously renovated sand traps. The architectural look and layout will follow the blueprint established at the start of this project. During this work, plans are to keep all holes open to play, although tees may be moved to the middle of the fairways on select holes from time to time. Once completed, the renovation will improve drainage, lessen weed growth, decrease maintenance, and add to the overall value of the Championship Course. ~ Mike Callahan, callahm56@yahoo.com Golf Advisory Comparing Sun Lakes Libraries to Public Libraries Our retirement community is fortunate to have three welcoming clubhouses, each with its own small library, and two libraries in the Main Clubhouse. As we continue to improve these libraries, it can be helpful to see how they compare to public libraries, which many of us have relied on over the years. One of the greatest advantages of our community libraries is convenience. All three clubhouses are just a short drive, or a golf-cart ride, away. There is no need for a library card, no standing in line, and no worry about returning items on time. You can borrow a book, puzzle, or audio-book for as long as you like. Our community libraries specialize in a curated collection of recent novels published within the last 15 years. Each clubhouse maintains about 50 puzzles, plus large-print titles and audio-books in the Paperback Library in the Main Clubhouse. The puzzles provide opportunities for mental stimulation, and audio-books and large- print books ensure accessibility for all. Public libraries offer a much wider range of books because their collections are designed to serve entire towns and cities. While our libraries are smaller, they are shaped by our community's needs. Donations keep the shelves fresh, and the Library Advisory Committee buys new books periodically during the year. Perhaps the most unique advantage of our community libraries is their flexibility. The Library Advisory Committee can introduce small improvements without navigating administrative hurdles. In our libraries, there are no paid staff, just volunteers shelving returned books. Public libraries are guided by trained librarians, formal policies, and city budgets. The libraries belong to all of us, and their success is shaped by our participation! ~ Laurel Stanley, lvstanley@gmail.com Library Advisory The Finance Advisory Committee (FAC) is asking for volunteers to join us in advising the Master Board regarding cash investments, review of financial statements, and funding of our reserves for HOA improvements and repairs. If you have experience in finance, investments or management of operations please join us. To apply to the FAC for consideration, complete an interest form found at the Main Clubhouse reception desk. The FAC is chaired by Cathy Phillips and Co-Chaired by Kathy O'Hara. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. ~ Cathy Phillips, cclpcathy@gmail.com, (909) 297-9520 Financial Advisory
