The Art League wishes all of you a Happy February and Happy Valentine's Day filled with lots of love and happiness. We invite all art-minded and art-curious community members to join us at our February meeting, Feb. 8 at 2 pm in the South Clubhouse. This month, our featured artist will be David Fairrington. He has conducted classes for the Art League in the past and his upcoming return is much anticipated. He will be demonstrating and teaching drawing/watercolor. His classes will be on Feb. 16 and 23, and March 2 in the Main Clubhouse Arts & Crafts Room from 9 am to 12 noon. The cost remains $30 for members and $35 for non-members. We have used some of the money the Art League made on our Chicago concert to purchase an overhead projector and wireless microphone to make artist demonstrations accessible to everyone in attendance. Thank you, resident artist, Joe Oakes for another session of classes in January. Our monthly mini art show was, as always, represented with many wonderful works by our talented community of artists (beginner to advanced). We welcome members to show as often as they wish, but please, one entry per artist and no pieces that have previously won a ribbon. Winners will be published in our next article. January was our annual membership drive and one lucky person won a nice prize for paying their yearly membership on time. It is still only $20 per year, open to all Sun Lakes residents. Having our membership numbers allows us to schedule dates and events in advance and guarantees a consistent calendar; and members get a $5 discount on classes! Come to a meeting, see who we are, and what we offer seasoned and aspiring artists. Contact Helen Searcy at the meeting or by phone at (951) 845-8198 for all information. "Art is an essential part of the human experience. It provides a common language across cultures and generations." ~ Pomegranate Communications 26 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2026 | Art League "e Bishop's Apricot" by Gustave Baumann (1881-1971). Gustave Baumann was a German-American printmaker and painter, and one of the leading gures of the color woodcut revival in America. In addition to his popular color woodcuts, he also made oil paintings and furniture. Spending much of his time in New Mexico, his works depict southwestern landscapes, ancient Indian petroglyphs, and scenes of pueblo life, gardens, and orchards. e 2026 Art League Executive Board: Dave Henke, President; Shirley Anderson, 1st VP; Pattie Rogers, 2nd VP; Carol Graham- Henke, Secretary; Judy Grant, Treasurer.
