As Valentine's Day draws near, the rhythmic beats of tap become more than just a dance — they are a celebration of connection, joy, and shared passion. Our Sun Lakes tap dancers bring the timeless glamour and charm of Hollywood's golden era to life, turning every step into a playful love letter and every routine into a joyful expression of heart and rhythm. Our expert dance instructor, Jeann Svarar, invites you to join her Beginning Tap class, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 am to 12 pm in the North Clubhouse. Tap shoes are provided, and the fee is $40 per month. As is our custom, we began the evening by donating to three local outreach programs. It was our pleasure to present checks of $300 each to representatives from Healing Waters, Set Free Ministries, and DeAnn's PAASS Kids. They labor with love year-round to lift up others, and we appreciate what they do. After dinner, we did a fine job of entertaining ourselves. Sophia Lin sang "Edelweiss" from e Sound of Music. Donna Kissling donned angel wings and danced to Oh Holy Night. Acel Johnston and Lourdes Lena, with a nod to their shared Cuban roots, danced to "Aires de Navidad." The Hawaiian group broke out their Ulis to reprise "Rock Around the Christmas Tree." And the Jazz dancers did an encore performance of "Jingle Bell Rock." Very nice mini-show, if we say so ourselves. Following the Secret Santa gift exchange, Ed Avina kept the music going, and the 50 attendees concluded the night dancing. Keeping the parties going, on Dec. 23, we had the pleasure of performing Hawaiian and Jazz Christmas dances for the Retired Public Employees Association in the afternoon and for St. Kateri Church in the evening. Fun times! For info about IDS, call Lourdes Lena at (626) 482-5051. Acel Johnston and Lourdes Lena Sophia Lin Donna Kissling
