| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2026 | 3 From the Master Board February is the month of lovers and of presidents. There are a lot of things to love about Sun Lakes, and a lot of people to love. Our family, friends, neighbors, volunteers, fellow group members, management staff, contractors, landscapers, and security staff are all around us. Some are easy to love and they love us back. Flowers, candy, diamonds, and romance are great. Here in Sun Lakes, we can change our community with the practice of sacrificial love for each other. Let's see what opportunities we get in 2026. For the Board, the year launched with our new insurance coverage taking effect, but at a cost that is still $100,000 over the budget, and 55 percent higher than it was in 2024. The Board will be working with management to identify opportunities to recoup that $100,000 this year so that we stay on budget. We will also change the renewal date of our insurance policies to end on Sept. 30 each year so we can identify changes that will affect the budget in time to accommodate those as the budget is developed. More bricks continue to arrive and be installed around the legacy clock tower which has been providing a wonderful photo opportunity for families and friends to honor each other. Bricks continue to be for sale in the Main Clubhouse Pro Shop so come get yours ordered today and enjoy the sense of belonging and enduring. The bronze golf statue was also installed at the end of December and has been gracing the planter bed between Administration and the Pro Shop with a dynamic swing and some costumes that highlight current holidays. Come enjoy the photo opportunity! Robots are coming soon, or are already here, on the driving range, cutting the grass and picking up the balls to create a higher quality experience on the driving ranges, and to save some labor time on those duties. That time can be redeployed around the golf course for improved maintenance which should be a great visual joy for those in the line of sight. We continue to evaluate the use of enhanced technology around security systems, especially gate access using an app on your phone rather than always calling Securitas. This comes with enhanced information about vehicles in the community that may be wandering from their approved destination, and tracking violations. Election campaigns are gearing up for the April elections which include not only three seats on the Master Board, but all the delegates for all of the 23 districts. Elections are a vital part of our community life so be sure to check out the candidates and make good choices in April. "It is understanding that gives us an ability to have peace. When we understand the other fellow's viewpoint, and he understands ours, then we can sit down and work out our differences." ~ Harry S. Truman Joe, Bob, Gary, Sandra, Mary Jo
