SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | FEBRUARY 2026 13
BILLIARDS
By Suzette Strauss, Resident
In this month centered around love, let's take a fresh look at love.
We use the word for our feelings toward so many things: "I love
pizza," "I love coffee," "I love a beautiful sunset," "I love you!" And
of course, "I love puppies and kittens," but why do they have to
grow up?
Love is not "a second-hand emotion," as a popular song once
said, and it is not just "a sweet old-fashion notion." Let's look at
what love really is, and what it is not.
LOVE IS LOVE IS NOT
Patient Easily Provoked
Kind Proud
Gentle Rude
Forgiving Unforgiving
Full of Hope Envious
Persevering Gossipy
Looks for the Best Controlling
Love can begin with a glance but takes years to mature. It can
break a heart and heal a broken heart. Love is powerful, and it
is truly a choice that needs to be reaffirmed often, and at times,
daily. I have heard several speakers over the years proclaim that
the happiest people are those who get at least eight hugs a day
from friends or loved ones. Others would say, to be happy we must
love what we do.
Here at Solera, I think I hear most of all the phrase, "I love this
community!" And to that I say, "Me too!" This month and beyond,
let's prove what love is, at least here with our neighbors throughout
the community, and who knows how many new friends we will
gain, as a result.
With love, …
What 's Love Got To Do With It? Everything!
