26 | THE COLONY NEWS | FEBRUARY 2026 | Guy Johnson is our artist for February. Guy describes himself as the luckiest man living in The Colony. He is an amateur humorist, amateur poker player and amateur photographer. He is, however, a professional Wordler and Waff ler and a published author. He is very busy and has barely enough time between naps for the NYT mini crossword puzzle. Guy loves watching Korean dramas on Netf lix and has recently gone to Korea hoping to use his fame as a fashion inf luencer to break into the movie business. We appreciate you, Guy, for sharing your beautiful artwork with The Colony. And we all enjoy your humor. Artist of the Month By Sylvia Maxwell, 818-667-1766 Our Watercolor class meets on the last Thursday of each month at 9 am to 12:30 pm in the Annex. We welcome and encourage beginners as well as advanced students. We do ask that you bring your own supplies. If you have any questions, please give me a call at the above number. If you have ever wanted to try watercolor painting, please come join us. Happy painting! Are you a quilter — or interested in learning the skill? Wanda Raphael and I are starting a small, friendly quilting group dedicated to creating charity quilts for people in need, and we would love for you to join us. Whether you're experienced or a newbie, you'll be welcomed. We will meet twice a month to sew, share ideas, learn from one another, and put our creativity toward making quilts and items that bring warmth and comfort to others. If you enjoy quilting, friendship and giving back, this is a wonderful way to do all three. If you would like more details, email me at alonzo. karen@gmail.com, or simply join us on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 10 am to 2 pm in the Annex. We would be thrilled to have you with us.
