| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2026 | 9 Library Committee Hello, neighbors! It's time again to update you about our Four Seasons Library. While a great deal of discussion is going on now about a future updating of our Lodge, including the library, life continues as is. The library is visited regularly by many of us. We check out and return books and puzzles, explore what's new on the shelves, and then head out to continue our activities. With the library operating on the honor system, our visits go smoothly. Some of us like to linger and begin reading a selected book, enjoying the comfort of the couch or one of the big easy chairs. Perhaps you enjoy taking extra time to page through the magazines and National Geographics. The magazines, especially, are very popular. Residents are encouraged to donate current issues of magazines being received at home when finished with them. We want the magazine rack to stay full. Please remember that ALL materials in the library are donated. If you haven't done so recently, walk across the hall to the Computer Room where about 250 puzzles are waiting for you! An example of one of the puzzles in the library's collection is pictured in this article. Puzzles are to be put together at home. Only whole/complete puzzles (no missing pieces) should be returned. Recently, several cardboard boxes full of puzzles were donated and processed into our collection. Believe it or not, hundreds of puzzles a year are handled by library committee members. We switch out puzzles on the shelves several times a year, donating the older ones to other locations. Incomplete puzzles, when identified, are recycled, just as damaged books are recycled. Speaking of books, library staff members are always processing new and donated books. For now, 2017 and newer hardcover fiction books are entered into our collection on the left side of the library. As for fiction paperbacks, we currently are removing books 2021 and older plus some 2022 paperbacks if the trough on the right side of the library is full. We're considering adding more shelving there which would cover the mural on the wall. Note that the bottom shelves of the bookcases are being left empty these days. We have determined that it's too difficult for residents and library staff to get to those books. We hope this article helps residents become more familiar with our great library. Come visit soon and enjoy! ~ Betty Crase Four Seasons Hemet CERT is dedicated to recruiting volunteers for the Community Emergency Response Team. We aim to empower individuals to actively participate in emergency preparedness and response efforts. By building a strong foundation of committed volunteers, we enhance community safety and resilience… but read on… You DON'T need special skills to be incredibly valuable! Here in California, fires and earthquakes are part of life, but you don't need to have superpowers to help. We genuinely need all willing volunteers. Yes, we do need more of you to take the CERT training especially if you have a safety background, but we also need former medical, police and fire professionals. Additionally, if we are without power and gas for any length of time, we will need kind neighbors who can help with food preparation, access to solar homes during daylight hours to allow patients to recharge medical equipment, propane grills for boiling water and food preparation, and even use of a truck to transport any injured to hospital if ambulances are tied up elsewhere. If you are one of our faithful, no matter your religion (or not) we might need you just to be there to hold someone's hand and offer comfort. There is quite literally room for everyone in this tent and for EVERY level of willing volunteerism and YOU could make a huge difference. Check us out at fshcert.wixsite.com/certsite or come to one of our monthly meetings held at 9:30 am on the third Monday of each month in the game room up at The Lodge. You can also contact Judith Noble Borghi at (610) 996-8670 or via email at judithborghi@ comcast.net for more information on how you can help. Thank you and welcome to our wonderful community.
