| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2026 | 15 When you think of March you think, St. Patrick's Day and everything green, (if you're Irish that is). The Irish are well known for their Traditional Folk Music (TAD), Celtic history and of course Irish dancing. Did you know that traditional Irish dance is significantly different from Clogging? Strict in posture with arms held tightly by their sides, the style and technique of Irish dancing emphasizes legs and feet. This unique style creates a distinct visual effect where the upper body remains still while the feet perform intricate movements. Focus is on footwork and rhythm. Cloggers have a more relaxed posture and often use their arms for expression. The dance involves a more f luid movement of the upper body, allowing for greater freedom of expression. While the fiberglass tipped shoes worn by Irish dancers create a sharp, clear sound when striking the f loor, cloggers wear shoes with a "double tap" (a piece of wood or metal attached to the shoe) that produces a distinct sound. The dance emphasizes the heel and toe strikes, creating a louder and more percussive rhythm. Either style is both entertaining and a visual delight for the senses. If you've seen Riverdance, or caught one of Michael Flatley's performances, you have experienced sensational Irish tradition. So if you're game, bring your clogs and show us what you got! Dancing to the talents of our many karaoke singers is the highlight of the evening. Doors open at 5 pm for raff le ticket sales, buffet potluck and table set-ups. Your pot luck dish, salad, appetizer or dessert should be enough to share with eight to 10 people or you are welcome to bring your own dinner if you don't wish to participate in the shared menu items. Either way, do plan to BYOB, plates, napkins and utensils. We started a new tradition in February by backing up the timeline. Once everyone is through the buffet line, we begin the drawing of raff le tickets. This worked well so karaoke can begin sooner, covering all the singers who have signed up. If you are new to our community (or been here a long time and wonder what is TGIF?), c'mon down. You will not be disappointed! See you March 6.
