| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2026 | 7 It's the start of a new year in Four Seasons and most of our houses are 20 plus years old. Now may be a good time to walk around your property and assess how your house and property have aged in the past years. As we age, we get a doctor's evaluation every year; our house should have a yearly evaluation too. Look at your roof. Are there any broken tiles? Have the tiles slid down exposing the underlayment? Are the valleys and gutters full of debris? Are the downspouts plugged with debris? Is all water f lowing away from your house? Look at the trim and stucco on your house. Has the sun exposed the wood? Is there any dry rot in your wood? Is there any evidence of termite activity in your wood trim? Do your gutters, fascia, front doors and garage doors need a fresh coat of paint? Are there chips or cracks in the stucco? Are there water spots from the sprinklers spraying on the stucco? Does your stucco need to be painted? Color schemes are available at The Lodge. Look around your yard. Is your fence in good shape? Are all the boards nailed tight? Is there dirt piled up against the bottom of the fence? Is the gate sagging? Does the fence need painting? Paint and stain protect the wood so it will last longer and look good. Remember, Padre Brown is the only approved color for fences in our community. Look at your landscape. Do your trees need trimming? If there is grass in the yard, does it need to be fertilized? Are your sprinklers working correctly? Are any sprinklers spraying against the house or the fence? What is the condition of the drip system? Are all lines working or are they plugged or are the lines broken? Water will ruin the stucco on a house and will shorten the life of wooden fences. Is water pooling in your yard or running down the street? Both Synergy and EMWD offer free upgrades on irrigation controllers that are on-line and controlled by your phone which can help control the landscape water consumption. In conclusion, not everyone in our community will be able to perform these suggestions so consult your gardener and the wise variety of handymen and they can assist you with a well-maintained home in our community.
