FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2026 47 This is one of the hardest articles I've had to write, but I believe honesty is important, so here it goes. Last year, I asked our members to put together a wish list of places they would love to visit on our monthly day trips. You delivered page after page of wonderful ideas, exciting destinations, and meaningful experiences. When it came time to plan this year's trips, I relied heavily on your suggestions, confident that we were creating adventures you truly wanted. Unfortunately, things didn't unfold the way I had hoped. Due to very low participation, we had to cancel both our January and February trips. Canceling trips is something I truly dislike doing. A lot of the time, coordination, and enthusiasm goes into planning each outing, and it's always disappointing when we can't make them happen. Because of this, I may need to consider booking trips every other month instead of monthly. I'm still trying to figure out the best path forward, and your participation will help guide that decision. That said, I'm excited to share what we have planned this month, because it's shaping up to be a fantastic day. We'll be joined by a knowledgeable tour guide who will take us through Hollywood's hot spots and reveal some behind-the-scenes secrets along the way. From there, we'll head to Beverly Hills to see where the stars shop and stroll through one of the most iconic neighborhoods in the world. Next, we'll make a stop at the famous Farmers Market, where you'll have time to grab lunch before hopping back on the bus. Our journey continues through Exposition Park and the Music Center, offering plenty to see and enjoy, before wrapping up at historic Olvera Street. Throughout the day, there will be several opportunities to get off the bus, explore, and soak in the sights at a comfortable pace. Looking ahead, April will take us to the beautiful Kimberly Crest Estate and Gardens, a true hidden gem filled with history and charm. I'll be watching closely to see how participation goes on these next two trips before making any final decisions about future outings. I truly hope you'll join us. These trips are about shared experiences, community, and making memories together — and they're always better when you're there. For membership, contact Irene at irenewelker55@gmail.com. Their walking group continues to grow and take to the trails two to three times a week for a brisk one- to two-mile walk. A highlight in January was a tour of East Valley Water District's new, state- of-the-art Sterling Natural Resource Center where wastewater, yes, I said wastewater, is filtered through a number of stringent steps and then is primarily directed to recharge the local Bunker Hill Groundwater Basin in California. This facility treats up to eight to 10 million gallons of wastewater daily, replenishing the underground water supply to strengthen the region's drought-resistant water portfolio. This was such an interesting tour that we may schedule another tour in the future for other members of our group who weren't able to attend the first time or for those of us who would like to take the tour again. More fun outings like these are in the works for this year so if these sound like activities you'd enjoy and you're single, we'd love to see you at one of our future meetings. We meet on the first Friday of the month at 6 pm in the RCN. For more information, please contact Sue Torkington at (860) 712-3430. ~ Phyllis Kates In January, the Singles (blue vests and blue hard hats) toured the Sterling Natural Resource Center in Highland. is state-of-the-art water reclamation facility is part of the East Valley Water District and is the only one of its kind in the world. A big group of Singles celebrated Phyllis Noreika's birthday at the Claim Jumper. e holidays wouldn't be complete without attending the annual Hanukkah Party sponsored by the Jewish Cultural Club.
