| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2026 | 3 From the Master Board March is the month that brings us spring, longer days, a change in the time and the luck of the Irish. When this was written in early February, the temperature was 75 degrees which made it seem like spring was already here! Hopefully, in March we'll have a bit of winter and at least some more rain. Expect the bronze golfer to be dressed in green at some point this month. Be sure to get your photo with him. Several new initiatives are underway with the Master Board of Directors. Even with the absence of one member, with Sandra's resignation, the Board is in agreement moving forward with upgrades to the property, amenities, and services. We continue to evaluate the use of enhanced technology around security systems, especially gate access. The software under consideration is called GoAccess and is used in other local area gated HOAs with great success. The core technology is a license-plate reader which will allow not only residents, but our designated and approved guests to enter using any of the six gates. This will alleviate the congestion at Gate 1 and Gate 5 during holidays and special events. Hurrah! The system works using an app on your phone to designate guests for entry, rather than always calling Securitas, and it comes with enhanced information about vehicles in the community that may be wandering from their approved destination, as well as tracking violations. The Board thanks all of you who are participating in discussions around new opportunities to generate revenue that will keep our HOA dues at reasonable levels. Private, non-equity memberships related to our amenities is a very important decision and the Board wants to hear from as many residents as possible, golfers and non- golfers. This is a decision the new Board will be working through starting in April. Election campaigns are gearing up for the April elections which include not only four seats on the Master Board, but all the delegates for the 23 districts. Unfortunately, not every district has a candidate for delegate, alternate delegate, or both. That is a great role to jump into as a volunteer, giving you an opportunity to meet your neighbors, celebrate, share vital information, and advance the values of our community. The Master Board candidates include some new names and some familiar ones, so be sure to get to know their positions on the issues that matter the most to you. Elections are a vital part of our community life so be sure to check out the candidates during their Meet and Greets, attend the Candidate Forum on March 4, and make good choices in April. Be sure to enjoy a specialty Irish cocktail in the Lounge to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!
