58 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2026 | Saturday Morning Golf According to the groundhog, we have two more weeks of winter! Let's see how that plays out. If you haven't joined us yet on Saturday mornings, our next tournament is March 14 so there is still plenty of time to come on out and meet new friends and possibly some old ones also; we are open to all levels. All we require is a GHIN to play in our tournaments (plus $10). If you're interested, please contact Michael Volz at (818) 310-1950. Golf builds camaraderie, especially in the Men's Club. Camaraderie is defined as the shared spirit of friendship and support among people who spend a lot of time together, built on shared experiences, laughter, hardship and understanding. That is what Men's Club golf at Sun Lakes is all about. Spending time with people that have a love of golf in common. Sharing those experiences … the laughter, the hardships of scrambling to keep that round in check, or of that errant shot that got away, and the mutual understanding of that love/hate relationship we all have with golf. The Men's Golf Club helps build that camaraderie, the friendship that enhances the experience of golf and life at Sun Lakes. We want you to have all that by joining and participating in our club. Every year the Men's Club Board awards the Ollie Perreria Award to recognize members that have made outstanding contributions to the golf community. This year at our quarterly meeting the award was given to Woody Catalano. Previously having won the award in 2006 this makes him the only two-time recipient of this award in Men's Club history. We applaud his record of outstanding service. We have some fun tournaments coming up in March. Wed., March 4, we have our Safari Tournament. It will be an ABCD computer pick foursome. It's a great format to meet new people. Sat., March 21 is our two-man scramble where you can pick your own partner. So grab your buddy and come on out and share some laughs. If you love a little competition, our hard working Director of Golf David Goldstein has introduced a Men's Day skins game anyone can get in, high or low handicap. Just check with the Pro Shop before your round on Wednesdays. And speaking of hard working, we need to give a shout out to our Treasurer and Membership Chairman Tom Gardner. Tom is a consummate professional, all around great guy, and always keeps us organized. Thanks Tom for all you do! With all we have going on we want to urge you to join us and be part of all that the Men's Club has to offer. Enjoy the camaraderie and the community. It will enrich your life and make your golf that much more rewarding and fulfilling. Men's Golf Our Board (L-R): John Jones, Michael Volz, Marcy Moon, and this year's President, Kris Terrell Woody Catalano receives the Ollie Perreria Award Robert Bravo, right, receives the 2025 Most Improved Golfer Award Tom Gardner, always hard at work
