By Anita Lawrence, Publicity Chair June sounds like a long time away, but it's just around the corner when you are organizing and planning for events the magnitude of those held during Charity Week. We will be taking a deeper dive into all the events leading up to the June 8 kick-off in the coming months in this space. 8:30 am: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Main Clubhouse Veranda Charity Week will begin the week of exciting and fun events with a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Monday, June 8. Residents are invited to attend. 9 am: 3K Fun Walk The walk will be 1.6 miles long on streets near the Main Clubhouse. There will be fun games and activity stations along the route where participants can earn "giddy-up bucks." At the conclusion of the walk, participants will be able to use their "giddy-up bucks" at the General Store to purchase Charity Week merchandise. A costume contest will also be held during the morning's events. Pre-registration is required and more information will be announced at a later date. Contact Janis Rice for more information at (951) 851-2144. High Noon: Chili Cook-off on the Main Clubhouse Veranda Calling all cooks! Do you have an extra special chili recipe and want to show off your chili cooking skills? If so, you need to rustle up some of your fine tastin' chili that will pit your recipe against other contestants for this year's contest for "Best Chili" and bragging rights. For more information, contact Mary Miller at (951) 367-9946. 7:30 am: Pancake Breakfast – Main Clubhouse Ballroom Having a hearty breakfast with your friends and neighbors makes a great start to the day. Contact LaVerne Prophet at (909) 936-6090 10 am: Raff le Ticket Prize Winners Announced on the Main Clubhouse Veranda. Contact Sharon Kealy to learn more at (909) 797-3031. 11 am: Helicopter Ball Drop – Main Clubhouse Veranda & Driving Range Join the excitement as the Charity Helicopter f lies over and drops numbered golf balls onto the designated area/hole. Ticket sales for all events will begin in early May while tickets for raff les prizes and the Helicopter Ball Drop will be delivered to your door.
