Denitely pass on this one. Enjoy! Ruth R. How romantic, watching the dinosaurs feed on the goats! Chris J. From Courtney Taylor, Publisher: For Christmas, our son and daughter-in-law got their three kids (our grandsons) season passes to Knott's Berry Farm. Which means, all birthdays this year are at Knott's Berry Farm. Which means, we should probably get season passes too. When I was a young teenager with a nimble skeleton, I loved Knott's. Montezuma's Revenge was my favorite ride. Go from zero to 60 in two seconds then upside-down in a loop twice? Yes please! In January, we went for Caleb's 10th birthday. Tim and I were game for all the roller-coasters. Hey, we're the "cool" grandparents! We're not old! We're hip! We're down for the action! Tim was a surfer! I was a roller-blader! We can handle a couple amusement park rides! The first ride was Ghost Rider. According to the internet machine, "GhostRider is widely celebrated as a top-tier wooden coaster, praised for its relentless airtime, intense lateral forces, and long, fast-paced layout. Most riders consider it one of the best woodies in the world." Relentless is the operative word. We went fast, upside- down-ish, this way and that, all at mind-blowing speeds. I flashed to all the videos I'd seen of riders being stuck, hanging from their safety straps, exiting the ride via cherry picker. I tried to think of an instance when the ride just left the rails and people sailed through the air to their certain deaths. Nothing came to mind but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. At least not yet. I kept my thoughts to myself, of course, and smiled gamely at Caleb when he pulled us to the next ride. We rode all the rides and had a quiet, achy three-hour drive home. Last week, Aiden turned eight and we were back at the Farm. This time, when the older boys ran to the first spine-rattling ride, we generously offered to watch Ashton, age four. He wanted to go to Camp Snoopy, the toddler part of the park. We rode on Charlie Brown's Kite, the Balloon Race, Pig Pen's Mud Buddies, and Sally's Swing Along. After about an hour, we made our way back to the roller coasters to see how the older boys and their friends were faring. They were fine, not missing their super cool grandparents at all, so we excused ourselves to Camp Snoopy again. Turns out the toddler part of the park is also the grandparent part of the park. And we decided against season passes. Ashton's birthday is in November and we're busy with things not involving Knott's Berry Farm until then. I found the joke!
