| OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2026 |25 Welcome new and returning members! You still can join or renew your 2026 membership by dropping off a check for $7 at the Clubhouse front desk. A new club website has been designed by member, Zoraya De La Bastida. It will be several weeks before it goes live. In the meantime, the old website is still available on the OHCC resident website and clicking on the Sewing Club, under clubs, or on the club website link on all information sent to club members. Zoraya has been working very hard on creating a new and exciting website and we truly appreciate her efforts! We can't wait to share the new site with you in the near future. Please keep Chris Sanderson's family and friends in your thoughts. Chris was a longtime member of the Sewing Etc. Club. She fought valiantly in her cancer battle, and we all will miss her smile and positive energy every day. One thing to come out of Do Dues Day and interest sign-ups, was member's desire for more basic sewing instruction, like adjusting patterns, sewing simple garments, and upgrading basic sewing skills. We are working on providing more of this, but Jacqueline (class and events scheduler) needs members to sign up to teach classes. If you have ideas and/or would be willing to teach a class, contact Jacqueline Ettinger, at (302) 540-2027. We really need members' help in order to provide desired classes. We also are looking for someone who might be willing to hem or do minor alterations for residents for a small fee. Our resident expert can't keep up with Village alterations. You could set your own schedule and determine if the "job" is one you want to tackle. Another major change requested by members was to limit the number of classes per month and to have a schedule set for classes. Beginning this month (March), classes will be scheduled on the second Saturday and the third Thursday of the month. Special classes or events may still be offered along with new classes. The Sewing Etc. Club's next regular meeting is Thurs., March 5 at 9:30 am in the Mykonos Room. Come early to socialize and have refreshments. The social committee will be sharing fun activities and games to allow members to acquire tools and materials that need to be thinned from the Sewing Club's equipment stash, including some sewing machines. It should be lots of fun. Please join us! Submitted by Diana Homan Sewing Etc. Club Helping Hands loans out three and four-wheel walkers, transport and regular wheelchairs. They can also use icing/cool water circulating machines which are used post-surgery or post injury to reduce swelling. If residents have unneeded medical equipment listed above to donate, please reach out to Helping Hands. You can contact any of the Helping Hands volunteers. Wheelchairs, crutches, canes and misc. medical equipment are available to residents without cost. Volunteers are available to assist our residents with pick-up and delivery when there is an in-home need for medical equipment items.
