| OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2026 | 37 Golf Club March is a lucky month because we are excited about the upcoming Club Championship for the golf club. Our last one was 2019. This format is a 36-hole two-day event where we will find the low gross Man and Woman to be our champions. We will also have other f lights with handicaps so many members can win net slots. A celebration dinner will follow dates are TBD based on our course. This month we are featuring Sally Palmer who moved to Ocean Hills in 1999. She started to play golf after work because it was free but didn't know what she was doing. She finally started taking lessons from Dori Orourke — and yes, she still goes to Dori who teaches her when her bad habits creep back into her game. Sally says the course was a lot easier many years ago and we did not have as many wonderful Lady golfers as we do today. Sally volunteered with the tournaments' luncheons, scoring and refreshments, etc., as it really helped her gain an appreciation for many aspects of our Golf Club in terms of awards and being involved. She was ace of the year 2004, 2006, 2019. Sally was also the ladies a f light match play champion in 2018 as well as the open match play champion, combining both men and women in 2012. Sally has had nine Holes in One! Sally was the December ace of the month for 2025. Sally thanks her lucky stars that she can still enjoy playing and OHCC is a terrific place to do that. Mike Stern has also been a five-time open champion, check out the plaques at the casa, so many golfers still very active up on those walls #golf history @ OHCC. Doris Reid, the founder of tournaments, was 100 yrs old in 2019 where this picture was featured in OHCC magazine. Upcoming Guys and Dolls are March 14 and Touring Amateurs is April 13 at Native Oaks. Fling Fridays weekly at 1 pm teaching and casual play. Last Friday of each month is a Fling Fest 8 to 10 am more of a scramble and having mixed traditional golfers out with Flingers. See website for details. Written by Teresa Deutman The Table Tennis Club is now in its third year of existence. We had an exciting Do Dues Day as 38 new members have signed up. The folded table tennis table and colorful yellow balls drew considerable attention. Membership for 2026 now stands at 122. Folks who may have missed Dues Day are still welcome to sign up to join the Table Tennis Club. Just drop off your membership check for $12 at the front desk and request it be placed in the Table Tennis Club envelope. The Table Tennis club is open to play every day of the week, except for Thursdays. On weekdays the default location for play is Mykonos Room, and for weekends it is Abravanel Hall. Tables are typically set up for play on Mondays from 11 am to 2:30 pm, Tuesdays 6:30 to 8:30 am and all other days from 1 to 8 pm. Please check the updated weekly schedules that are emailed to members every month. The schedule for the month is also posted in the TT Club bulletin board in Mykonos, and on the activity's marquee screen in the Clubhouse. Occasionally, there are schedule changes, based on room availability. The club offers all members the opportunity to take professional lessons to learn proper form and positioning to reduce the chances of falling or injury and improve overall ability. Plans are in the works for providing free novice/beginner lessons. Individual and group lessons with professional coaches can be booked in 30 min slots from 3:30 to 5:30 pm on most Sundays. Sign up sheet for lessons is in the bulletin board in Mykonos Room. Two parties are planned for this year, one on Sun., April 26 and our annual meeting and party on Sun., Oct. 18. Many members consider our parties to be the very best.
